Hi

Is there any controllerists in Brighton UK? I have many dj mates but only a couple of them digital dj's. Thought it would be cool to meet more digital dj's in the area and share ideas and mashup some sets.

what do you reckon?

1st of may is sadly no good for me, but I'm quite keen to get involved, when pos. Quite a lot of my day job is based around brighton, but I actually live in Rye about 50mins by train. I've got a large unit that I've in turned in to a pretty cool studio/noise room. The bonus is I can play music as loud as I want when I want, which is plus considering I've gotta 5000watt P.A. to play with. I know its a bit of a trek from brighton but you guys are more than welcome down for a digital jam/mixathon. There's a shed load of space for multiple set ups, Here's a pic of me and my fellow dj's having a session.

Apart from having a mix taking turns in the traditional sense, we have a lot fun midi clock syncing all our kit together. This allows us to play as band-ish, one of my mates often does the beats on his N.I. Maschine and the remaining three of us use Traktor to add bass line's, synth leads and so on. We find this a great way to really learn the power of traktors fx, obviously things get a little out of hand at time's, but it rears some great results too. When we have jam's like this our goal is to try and use the software as an instrument. What I believe would be pretty cool thing to do is, try work out a evening that would show the pros of digital dj'ing, create some routines that couldn't be reproduced on a traditional dj set up. Doing something like that really fly the flag for what Dj TechTools and digital dj'ing is all about!

I'm from Brighton - live near Dance2 / Waitrose

You believe there's enough of us to look into doing a (one off?) controllerism evening ? book out upstairs at The Hope or something... would be cool to see controllerism being pushed in Brighton.

Enzo Siffredi? Thats the man! I spoke to him as I was leaving around 4ish. I couldn't take anymore due to only being on alcohol rather than the illegal stuff.

I don't know who the guy was that was on before him, but he was using Serato. I was quite pissed by the time Von Stroke started so I couldn't say what he was rocking his set with. The music and booze had taken me into a place that only had dancing in it.
Would be Vincent Mangenaro or his DJ alias Enzo Siffredi. He plays literally every weekend in Brighton. Nice guy, but no my kind of music.

Famoussas which evening s do you play at? I tend to go to the volks more than any other club as I still find they play the best tunes in Brighton generally.

Hey guy's yeah really keen to meet up if your up for it. Maybe meet for a pint or few msg me and I'll send you my number. Don't really fancy putting my number out in cyberspace.
There are a few DJ's on the brighton circuit that use just laptops/controllers, quite a few that use Traktor Scratch Pro and some that use Serato but no as many as you'd believe. The trend in Brighton tends be be just using CDs and CDJ's.

I DJ at a evening called Toothsayer, DJ'ed at a evening called New Noise and have done a few charity gigs as well.

Check my soundcloud for a few live recorded sets and my new promo if you're interested
