Volume adjustment in PN

I processed an original file with my set output volume to -10dB, after track was processed the volume adjustment indicated this:

-10.4dB > -11.2dB

I then processed the same original file using platinum notes settings which gives a volume output of -12.5dB, after track was anyalised the volume adjustment indicated this:

-10.4dB > -13.7dB

Im finding it hard to follow what these numbers are representing and the logic of it, does the original -10.4dB represent the average volume of original file and the figures that follow represent what the average output volume has been adjusted to? If so why does it not read -10.4dB > -10.OdB and -10.4dB > -12.5dB respectively?
