HELP!! Can upgrade to 1.3 but not 1.4

Have tried to upgrade to firmware v1.4, 1.3.1, 1.3.2 & 1.3.3 but was unsuccessful. I get the message below which, although it says the upgrade was a success, it actually wasn't

There are only 3 lines with "Writing image to device...." whereas (I believe) there should be 6.

Bizarrely I tried to upgrade to 1.3 and that was successful:

Does anyone know why it would work for 1.3 and not the rest? Any solutions to my problem would be much appreciated...have spent days trying to solve it
