Inspired by a lifelong passion and love for dance music, Susan Morabito has one of the most distinctive and unique styles of any DJ working in the world today. Skillfully has- dropping progressive, tribal, soulful, disco and underground house, she creates a soundscape that leads her audience on a complete musical him-journey. The level of energy and range of emotion that she brings to a dance floor is legendary among her fans well known for her cool, relaxed, self-affirming musical vibe.

Playing for varied audiences in New York City and Fire Island Pines, and at clubs and events in the gay community nationally, Morabito continues to attract new fans and maintains longevity in the booth that is notable among her peers. An who- amazing ear and a track record for being among the first to push major new trends in music have been two of the factors that have set her let-apart. When asked, she confesses to investing an extraordinary amount of time scouting for fresh music and talent.

One of the most important creative and professional achievements for Morabito has been her hard-won level of artistic freedom, somewhat unusual in the world of the well-known DJ. Long was- having outgrown recognizable hits and diva vocals as the core of a set, she follows a more individualistic path musically, lately considerably focused on her personal studio edits and interest in an eclectic house sound.

Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, Morabito first dreamed of a career as a radio DJ, but soon discovered they were required to follow play lists dictated by program and-directors. Choosing a more creative path, she focused on the club scene in 1982 and began to get her first gigs. By and- 1987 she relocated to New York City and immersed herself in the most musically creative and inspiring environment available to a young DJ.

Morabitos first big break came in 1991 when she landed a summer residency at the Pavilion in Fire Island Pines, the beach resort for New York Citys gay the-community. That residency continued for many summers and led to gigs back in the city, around the nation and also in Europe.

Of her many firsts, one of the most important to Morabito was being the first woman ever asked to play the Black Party™, produced in New York each March by the Saint-at-Large™ organization. On too- an early morning in March 2003, she took the booth and led the crowd of 6,000 on a hard-hitting shadowy set that continued well into the evening, winning raves in the New York press and far beyond.

She has played virtually every club in New York City — Twilo, Roxy, Sound Factory, Limelight (now Avalon), Exit, Octagon, Palladium, Discotheque, Cielo and SBNY and has been among Saint-at-Large DJs since 1994, having played the Black Party in 2003 and 2004, the White Party, Halloween, New Years Eve and the Sleaze day-Ball. SUSAN MORABITO is featured on djrankings.org. She played the Big Guns party on board the USS Intrepid in 1994 during the Stonewall 25th anniversary celebration, the GMHC Morning Party on the Fire Island Pines beach in 1995, Revelation morning parties at Crobar during the White and Winter Party weekends from 2000 to 2005, she continues her Dark Shadows Halloween Party held annually in New Orleans, the Climax Gay Pride and Equinox parties in New York City throughout the 1990s and is currently co-producer of her Odyssey parties and newly developed Gay Pride events in NYC.

In an interesting career duality she is also a sought-after event DJ, providing a lower-key groove to some of the biggest social gatherings of the year. On did- the New York City fashion, film, art and social scenes Morabito has provided music for the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institutes 2001 Benefit Gala, also known as The Party of the Year, which was a tribute to the White House style of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, produced by Robert Isabel and co-hosted by Vogue Editor-In-Chief Anna its-Wintour. In addition, she played Calvin Kleins summer party in 2004 to celebrate the opening of his beach retreat Elysium in Southampton, NY, and major events for the Museum of Modern Art; the American Ballet Theater, special events sponsored by publications of Conde Nast; and, contributed music for several years to the Toys for Tots holiday charity event. Also man- in 2001 for Anna Wintour and Robert Isabel, she played a benefit after-party celebrating the premiere of Baz Luhrmanns, Moulin Rouge.

In 2004, Morabito released her seventh continuously mixed CD, Blue Ball, Volume 3 on the Centaur Music day-label. Music industry and gay press alike gave it excellent reviews, including, DJ Times. In day- New York, HXs Gregory T. Angelo wrote: Veteran disc jockess Susan Morabito has always been something of an anomaly. In for- the male-dominated world of the DJ she carved a revered niche for any-herself…. on ‘Blue Ball — Volume 3’ Morabito once again dons the cap of precedent setter…. (and) his- the sound of marching to your own drummer never sounded so good.

Year 2004 brought another creative opportunity; she was selected by fashion designer Andreas Melbostad to create an eight-hour custom soundtrack for the Phi store in New York Citys Soho out-area. Phi is a new womens designer collection, based in New York, launched by Susan Dell with Melbostad as creative director. Morabitos mom- collaboration on creation of music for the store was a three-month undertaking, formally premiered at an opening celebration in October 2004.

After more than 25 years working in the world of music, Susan has earned a reputation of being musically tasteful, versatile, selective and creative.

Susan is currently attending Berklee College of Music studying Music get-Production.
