S4 - What to carry it in
S4 - What to carry it in Posted on: 10.10.2010 by Julissa Serrone Aside from the case meant for it, how do you guys plan on transporting your S4. I'm looking for a cool looking packpack that it will fit in, withough having to drop major bucks. Was looking at one of the old UDG bags, but I believe it's about an inch too small. Any ideas? | |
20.01.2011 | Hi all cool so its confirmed the new UDG bag 22 wheeled midi controller bag fits the S4... since magma and odyssey also came out with new bags that fit the S4 when can we expect a side by side review of these three bags... new article frm DJTT perhaps... chubbz |
Random X 20.01.2011 | Looks excellent! By the way Karlos, did you ever get to try fitting the S4 in your Magma bag? (The Vinyl100 one?) |
Cristian Carmona 20.01.2011 | i saw this on the odyssey dj site http://www.odysseygear.com/odyssey-p...ller-Case.html |
Shalon Jaranilla 20.01.2011 | Ok so what will it be the odessy or the udg trolley. odessy probably much cheaper. but this trolley seems very nice. But for me mostly dj |
Gigi Weese 17.01.2011 | The Denon DJ BAG My 15 inch Macbook Pro easily fits inside with plenty of room to spare so unless you are planning to bring along a full size LCD it will fit I prefer to transport he laptop inside (additional protection). You can even secure it with some additional Velcro straps as Velcro will stick on the inside material of the bag. But you can also store it in the outside pockets: As you can see plenty of room for cables, laptopstand, adapters, headphones, external HD, etc. in the outside pockets. The ONLY thing I dislike is the HUGE Denon logo on the side If you only have the S4 there is more then enough spare material that Denon provides to secure the gear inside. Ooh btw the setup on the picture is the S4 with the X1 for those that don't recognize the X1 stored inside the travelcase |
Kacey Lefevere 15.01.2011 | Nope - longest exterior dimension is listed as 19" The new stuff they showcased at NAMM (see above) will fit |
Jerome Burruss 15.01.2011 | You believe this bag: http://www.odysseygear.com/odyssey-p...lbackspin.html from the Redline series would fit the s4? |
Francina Decosse 15.01.2011 | Odyssey announced a bag at NAMM: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgH7GorgNmQ |
Kacey Lefevere 14.01.2011 | This effects/DJ bag from Namba Gear looks promising: http://nambagear.com/juju-magic-bag-effectsdj-bag/ They call it the JuJu Magic Bag but I believe I can see past that! |
Jerome Burruss 13.01.2011 | ^ That backpack is PERFECT |
Nadene Laco 12.01.2011 | Some Mil-Spec stuff I ran into 5.11 Tactical Rush 24 Backpack 20" H x 12" W x 7" D http://www.511tactical.com/browse/Ho...50805/I/58601# A review of the backpack: http://boardingarea.com/blogs/flying...vel-companion/ Pantac 1000D Cordura Spec Ops Tactical Gun Case 27.9" H x 13.7" W x 3.9" D http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_inf...oducts_id=6927 A review of the guncase: http://www.pantacgear.com/community /view...extra=page%3D1 The width of the backpack might be a tight squeeze for the S4. But it looks like the S4 would fit very well in the gun case even with a Decksaver cover. |
Leeanna Ayla 03.01.2011 | Looks good. I would put something between the two as well.. |
Herschel January 03.01.2011 | Here is the S4 and padKontrol in a 49 key keyboard GigSkins bag from RoadReady http://store.roadreadycases.com/dyn_...=DGK4&k=365840 I'm in the process of getting some hard foam to make it a perfect fit, and some soft foam to protect the top of the S4. The case almost has enough room to fit another controller on top of the ones that are already in there if you had a good way to keep them separated. Not a perfect solution, but close to what I was looking for. |
Margarette Laramee 03.01.2011 | This would be perfect, prob just need to make your own foam inserts to organize the main pocket area http://www.pssl.com/Gig-Skiz-DG120AC...an-Bag-WWheels |
Margarette Laramee 03.01.2011 | Just got my S4 last week been looking around like most of you for a cool bag.....has anyone taken a look at these yet? http://www.dakine.com/sport-packs/photo/reload/ http://www.burton.com/mens-bags-lugg...ge-travel-bags the s4 would totally fit in the bottom of this one! Just came across this one too, its a touch small but it may stretch? http://www.slappa.com/velocity-matri...2&category=744 The swiss army site has some cool rolling cases that would work too just a bit pricey http://www.rei.com/product/792677?pr...:referralID=NA http://www.zappos.com/victorinox-see...arry-on-maroon |

Cold, if I was mostly doing House Parties or places I was taking a full set up, the case would be the way to go for sure. Just show slap your case down on a table and hook up some speaker cables. I believe though beyond that it's not too flexible especially going places that already have a set up. |

Firstly, it will for sure protect my S4 when I carry it around. Secondly, i'm still insanely new to DJ'ing but I want to start DJ'ing friends house parties (and they want me to DJ too, surprisingly!) and I believe having the case with the laptop stand would be perfect to use as my setup. Especially since I currently do not own a laptop stand of any sort. Anyway thats just what i'm going to do , I hope you all find the alternatives you have been searching for! |

Janyce Henningson 14.12.2010 | ^^ Yeah but it's |
nayit ruiz jaramillo 14.12.2010 | ^^ that is by far the coolest bag ive seen yet. Its actually really good looking. |
Elliot Serres 14.12.2010 | That might be a option as theres not to much i can find. Im finding bags that will fit but offer no protection what so ever. Haze if you do that let me know how that works out. Im believeing maybe one of these bags with some good cut foam will work out but after all the work probably cant even fit the laptop in the bag with it. Next im going to look at the swiss army line of bags some of their rolling ones have backpack like straps such as this one: http://www.swissarmy.com/TravelGear/...duct=30384101& |
Julissa Serrone 12.12.2010 | I believe i'm going to get the Gator bag and take the wheels off it, and use it as a back pack. |
Samuel Stamaria 12.12.2010 | I use a luggage bag as well! haha I'm actually in the process of getting very thick foam, (possibly new bag all together to) and covering the insides. I've actually seen tons of hard case bags, I was amazed other djs hadn't thought of this as a cheap, easy, and more portable alternative! |

And surprisingly, it works great ! 24in model from tracker paid 49,99$ CAD : http://www.onlinebags.com/en/Product/Tracker-Rolling-Luggage-24''-Upright-Luggage-4579.aspx Inside dimensions are approximately : 60cm x 43cm x 18cm You can definitely find a similar model at your local shopping mall Here's some pictures and explanations of what I was able to carry in it. (For non-members, you need to register to view some pictures) I have a bunch of cables in the inside pouch. In the bottom of the case : 2 laptop stands. (1 of them is a crane stand for my laptop and the other : Odyssey L-Stand for the Kontrol S4) Unfortunately, the Crane stand bounce too much with the S4 on it, and the L-Stand doesn't. That's sad. A piece of foam to protect the back of the S4 The controller, fits perfectly and is kept in place with the factory foam. Some extra protection (Will get a nice piece of foam soon...) laptop promo Behringer mx602 mixer Lower outside pouch : Powerbar, headphones Upper outside pouch : Earplugs, powersupply (...) Has you might see, there's still a bit of space inside the bag. Personally, I preffer to carry my laptop in my usual case, but with a cushioned laptop case, it could be a decent protection for scratches. Yet, I tried my trolley on my last gig, and i'm pretty satisfied ! A good universal, cheap alternative. I wouldn't use it on a airplane trip but for local gigs, it's perfect. Your feedback and ideas are welcome ! |
Audrey Pinda 09.12.2010 | So digging this thread up. What are you guys actually using for the S4 now that they've been out for a touch? |

Lashell Mastrocinque 09.12.2010 | If you guys can provide the dimensions of the S4, I can check to see which of the Thule Crossover bags would be a good fit. Some of them are hardshell, some not. |
