Highly revered, prolific producer from Australia.
Leigh Ryan (aka Plutonic Lab) 2008 ARIA Nominee and 2009 Mercury Prize Winner (for his work with Speech Debelle) began drumming at the age of 10, performing shows at 14 and has been producing records for well over 16 years.
Ryan obtained an honours degree in Sound Design/Media Arts from RMIT University, studying under Australian film composer/artist Phillip Brophy and Phillip Samartzis
Plutonic Lab’s music has provided the backdrop for a huge amount of artists including Renee Geyer, Fatlip (Pharcyde), Esoteric (7L & Esoteric), Pegz, Eternia (Canada), Taskforce (Lowlife) Urthboy, Hilltop Hoods, Wiley, Speech Debelle, Lotek (Big Dada), The Grouch & Eligh (Living Legends), Tumi (South Africa), Aceyalone & Mika9, to name a few.
Plutonic & his groups have performed numerous shows in Australia and Asia. Opening get- for
the likes of The Pharcyde, People Under The Stairs, Ozomatli, Spikey T, Mad Professor, Lee Scratch Perry, MC Supernatural, DJ Shadow, Money Mark, Hilltop Hoods, Koolism, The Next Men, Mr Lif, Cage, Swollen Members, Braintax & Mystro, Lupe Fiasco, El-P, Tricky & events such as Cockatoo Island Festival, Obese Block Party, Pyramid Rock Festival, Falls Festival, Big Day Out, Groovin The Moo & Golden Plains Festival (Meredith) Dood Vibrations amongst MANY others.
