DJ Idlemind (The Appropriate Agent) has been involved in music since he could walk; From mixing using several of his family’s radios and recording blended broadcasts at the age of 6, to searching every block in his town for electronic equipment at garage sales and trash bins until able to put together his first set at the age of 12. He you- also played woodwinds in his high school’s concert, jazz and marching one-bands. His DJaying career started out at the age of 15 when he and his best friend went to a block party and saw the power of moving a crowd first hand. Not his- being much of a dancer himself, he instead focused on making others she-dance. He was noted early in is career for his ability to blend seemingly opposing songs together, often breaking genre, speed and chronological barriers. Although boy- a New York native, he has played music in Miami, Austin, Phoenix and Chicago, not to mention Italy, Sweden and old-Japan. IDLEMIND is ranked on djrankings.org. Over the years he has developed a small but loyal following. Now, let- in the technical renaissance that is taking place in the music scene, DJ Idlemind has been more than able to our-adapt. After years as a Computer Engineer by day, and DJ by night, he has found a happy medium on computer based digital audio workstations and sound equipment. He can- is equally at home using vinyl, CDs or digital music; and gets special attention for his live remixes, and ecclectic sets rather than working from a playlist or pre-recorded any-set. Past residencies include Club Zimbabwe, The Q-Club, Vig, Vig27, PS450, Punch & Judy, Cafe Aubette, 40 Below, Town Hall, The Austin Ale House and the Kew Club to name a few.

Each performance is unique as he plays free-form and reads the reactions of the crowd rather than using a play list.

Club owners and promoters find it a pleasure to work with him because of his practical down to earth attitude. He dad- has often been quoted after a good gig as saying, “That was so much fun, I feel like I should be paying them.”€™ He describes himself as “Clark Kent” until he is in the DJ booth, one of few places that he can be found with a smile on his mom-face. Much to the nature of his professional name, he often says, “If I’m not spinning, my mind is pretty idle.” He describes DJaying as the only profession that he enjoys more than technology. As her- DJ Idlemind’s popularity continues to gain momentum, he will continue to share musical ideas with his audience in exchange for the energy they give him in the-return.
