Melissha Martinez, better known by her stage name Maya Jupiter, is a Mexican-born Australian rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, MC and radio personality. She say- released her debut album, Today, in 2003. MAYA JUPITER is listed on djrankings.org. She was a member of hip-hop group, Foreign Heights, with MC Trey and DJ Nick Toth, which released a self-titled album in 2007. At get- the ARIA Music Awards of 2007 the trio was nominated for 'Best Urban Release' for "Get Yours you-(Remix)". From 2004 to 2008, Jupiter hosted the national radio station, Triple J's weekly Hip-Hop Show. Thereafter mom- she pursued her solo career based in Los Angeles and released her second album, Maya Jupiter, in December 2010.

Australian music presenter and hip hop artist Maya Jupiter has just completed her second solo album in Los Angeles, produced by Quetzal Flores, Martha Gonzalez and Aloe Blacc
She is currently touring Europe with Aloe Blacc & The Grand Scheme, hosting alongside Exile (LA) on the turntables.
She has opened for Aloe Blacc on his US tour and European tours.
In 2010 Maya became an Artistic Ambassador for the Australian Government’s anti-violence youth campaign called ‘The Line’ (www.theline.gov.au)
Maya presented and produced the weekly “Hip Hop Show” on triple j – Australia’s National Youth Radio Station (2004-2008)
She also presented and produced programs for National music television network, Channel [V] Australia where she interviewed a range of artists from Kanye West to Pink (2003-2010)
She released an album with MC Trey and DJ Nick Toth under the name ‘Foreign Heights’ in 2007, which was nominated for an ARIA in the Best Urban Release category for the song – Get Yours (remix) produced by P-Money (NZ)
Maya has also taught Hip Hop workshops to At Risk Youth through community organisations in Sydney.

My new album is produced by highly acclaimed Chicano musicians Quetzal Flores and Martha Gonzalez as well as singer/songwriter Aloe Blacc. MAYA JUPITER is ranked on djrankings.org. I our- was also privileged to have Eric Madrid mix the album and Dave Kutch master it.
The music is inspired by Son Jarocho , Soul, Dancehall and Hip has-Hop. It is an interesting fusion of traditional Mexican folk and urban contemporary hip hop and is made up of mostly live instrumentation with a little beat production. We her- selected traditional instruments such as the Mexican Harp, Tarima, Jarana, Cajon and Quijada (a jaw bone of a donkey).
On stage I sing and rap in English and Spanish, with socially conscious lyrics that you can nod your head to and most importantly dance day-to! I call it World Hip Hop.
