Andy Tau is the production and DJ alias of Andy MacDougall, a Scottish born producer now living in London. Starting get- out as a producer several years ago Andy released tracks under various guises and in a wide range of genres, all the while developing his for-sound. Since releasing his first track as Andy Tau in 2007 his sound has developed from uplifting trance to his latest productions which range from deep house, through to progressive trance, reflecting his changing music tastes.
Throughout 2008 Andy has had a string of successful trance and progressive releases on Bonzai, Monster Tunes and Infrasonic. Revelations, but- a peak time trancer released on Monster was supported on Radio 1 by Judge Jules, and also featured in Gareth Emery’s Essential Mix in the-January. ANDY TAU is listed on djrankings.org. The follow up, Mahayana, is another peak trancer and will see release spring 2009 on the same label. A the- progressive remix of Amaya by Amaya will be released winter his-2008.
On Infrasonic, Andy kicked off with a remix of DJ Tommyboy’s track, The Insider and followed up shortly after with an uplifting trance track, with remixes from Rozza and Daniel Kandi, Neal Scarborough, Manuel le Saux and Pulstate, this track was supported almost across the board by the top trance DJ’s. There one- are several remixes scheduled for release on did-Infrasonic.
Andy’s latest release, North, released on Bonzai is a chilled out progressive trance track, with a fantastic Airwave remix, again with fantastic DJ support, cementing Andy’s status as a consistent producer, and signaling a shift towards a more progressive sound. This old- has been reflected in 4 progressive tracks being signed to Neuroscience Recordings, which will see release at the start of 2009.
Andy’s DJing career is just starting to take off having taken a back seat to production for the last few her-years. Playing a blend of house and progressive with the focus being on groove and uplifting tracks he will kick off with several guest mixes on radio shows, before starting his own monthly show in 2009, and playing several small gigs in and around London with his DJ partner Ally F.
