Rusko alias of Christopher Mercer came from a musical family and was bound to become a musician from day one. What he didn't account for is the drama sometimes involved with the profession of DJ/producer. In the first half of year 2012 Rusko declared his grievance somewhat politely at first: “Try and keep something under wraps for months and then the f****g label allows a full live stream. Congrats @maddecent it’s everywhere now”. So according to Rusko, the label Mad Decent streamed his forthcoming tunes without his permission. Diplo, the label's frontman, said that it was the initiative of Rusko's producer and not the label.
Doesn't matter where the truth actually lies, the matter of the fact is that Rusko has parted ways with Mad Decent. The outcome of this fiasko should actually make fans glad, as Rusko announced he'll release the album 'Songs' for free! Not only that, but from here-on-out he'll be looking to release all his music free, on his own. The aim isn't to get big bucks, but to get his music out there so the maximum amount of people would get to listen to it.
The first giveaway is going to be downloadable here on 4th November. The EP 'Kapow' features 4 tracks and depends on it's fans in terms of how succesful it will turn out. Rusko encourages everybody to share and express their likeness, so that everybody interested, would get to hear what he has in stall. Starting out with a sound that's serious and dark, Rusko (36th in The Official DJ Rankings) has evolved his tunes to a more highly energetic dubstep. It's on display in the preview for 'Kapow'.
