A little more patience, only the final stretch before Random Access Memories will change the way you perceive dance music. Fellow Frenchman, and house guru DJ Falcon will give you his input on the album, but also take you back to the rave days of the ’90s, before the transformation of Daft Punk.
In an interview to Billboard, the more outspoken android - Thomas Bangalter - expressed humbly that Daft Punk may not be the best-selling artist in the world, but it's all about doing what's most important to you. “It’s not really a judgment or criticism of any of the music today; rather trying to bring a different point of view and different alternative,” he went on. “It’s mostly a question: Is it still possible to have this dream of looking at the way music is made like movies are made? It used to be teamwork. Is it still possible? Is there still an audience, a market for it? All interesting questions as an experiment. We are musicians even more than producers, in some sense composers. We’re not the best-selling artists in the world, but we have this dream; this ability to try to do this project and see if it we can make it happen.”
The part of 'best-selling' may have been true for their last album Human After All which wasn't a commercial hit. After 'Get Lucky' hit #1 in most countries around the world, there's little doubt that Random Access Memories will be a big seller. For the latest information regarding therecord, listen to BBC1 on Friday night, where Daft Punk will give their first spoken interview on the album with Pete Tong.
Enjoy a look back at the era before the Frenchmen became androids, and one of their companions throughout their career!
