Armin van Buuren toured the globe to celebrate 11th birthday and 550th episode of his beloved radio show 'A State of Trance' in March and in five years perspective hopes to have his own 24/7 radio station with nothing but the best in trance and progressive. No wonder as the guy reached 2nd place in the “DJ Magazines Top 100” in 2011 (behind only David Guetta).
He first got into house music thanks to dutch master mixer Ben Liebrand – one of the first people to mix to records together – becoming a huge inspiration for young Armin, looking at the time for his own identity in music. Now he just admires how house sound has found his way back to America and how American DJ’s and producers making it their own.
Mornings free from touring Armin van Buuren likes to take his daughter to daycare and also he has a nice habit to spend at least a day with his wife and daughter and without turning on his laptop.
For now it is logical to use a lot of Facebook and Twitter a lot, if wanting to reach new fans or keep in touch with current ones, but Armin was a frequent user of social media platforms yet a long ago, when IRC and MSN were popular and used to look there, what people were thinking about the tracks he was playing in the radio show. As forums and message boards can be very confronting since people usually don´t use their own names, Armin believes, that it is important to have somebody in your organization to filter out that information and give you only constructive criticism.
This was a short glance into Armin van Buuren´s world today. Armin was interviewed for the Forbes Magazine by Dan Schawbel, the managing partner of Millenial Branding, a Gen Y research and management consulting firm.
