"I love how sweet she is. Awww she giggles and hugs her mama! Great singing!"
It looks like Jennifer Lopez, actress, pop sensation, and mother, has yet another future pop star on her hands. Emme Maribel Muñiz, Lopez's 11-year-old daughter and twin sister to Max, proved that she has inherited her parents' talent by showcasing her own beautiful voice, with a version of Alicia Keys' soulful "If I Ain't Got You," no less.
Over the weekend, Lopez uploaded a video on YouTube that highlighted the past week in her life and shared behind-the-scenes footage of preparations for a live performance of "Medicine," her newest single, which she performed for the first time on May 6 as part of the Today show's summer concert series.
When Lopez took a break from dancing to practice her vocals with piano accompaniment, her daughter joined her. Lopez suggested that Emme should sing Keys' track, and with little coaching, her daughter belted out the song. She was rewarded with a round of applause and a proud mama hug.
Now, is that amazing, or what? This just goes to show the unfairness of genetics, since extreme singing talent definitely runs in some families (families other than mine). Does this hint that Muñiz will have a career of her own? Not yet. In the video, when Lopez says, "We should have her come out and do something on tour! Want to put a little piece in this show?" it looks like Muñiz demurs.
But we might still get glimpses of her singing here and there. Lopez is a proud mama, and she can't help but show off her daughter occasionally on Instagram. Here, back in February, is a snippet of Muñiz singing "How Far I'll Go" from Moana.
If you're thinking that the musical family should treat us to their combined gifts more often, you might be in luck. “We should have her come out and do something on tour,” Lopez said after Emme finished singing.
