How did it all start for you? It all started when I went to my rst rave party in the South of France. I immediately loved everything about it, the vibe was amazing. One week later, I was at a record store buying my rst turntables and my rst techno records on vinyl... I really cherish these early memories. Back in 2010 you remixed Moby’s ‘Stay Down’ and turned in one of your more melodic remixes to date. What artists on the more melodic-tip inspire you? And which artists do you listen too on a regular basis which might surprise us? The artists I’m listening to at the moment which more focused on melodies are Obscure Shape & SHDW and Recondite. Otherwise, I do listen to stuff that would surprise you indeed! Including Massive Attack, the Beastie Boys , Grandmaster Flash and French rock artist “M” What is the best piece of music you have heard today? This morning when I woke up, I listened to Massive Attack’s ‘Unfinished Sympathy’, I worship this song. What are the 5 big tunes in your box this weekend… Fifth Gear de Bart Skills – Drumcode Black Mamba de Kaiserdisco – 100% Pure Confused (Original Mix) Sinisa Tamamovic – Yoshitoshi Recordings Highway No. 4 (Skober Remix) Monika Kruse, Voodooamt – Terminal M Rights for Men (Young Male Remix) Spencer Parker – Work Them Records I love playing these tracks during my performances. They’re super-efficient and catchy, works all the time Is there any young producer or DJ that has caught your attention recently? Medeew and Chicks Luv Us are three artists from my home region in France; they are super talented and make really good music on various labels, so keep an eye on them. Can you tell us one record or song that has changed your life? Wow, that's a difficult question. There are many tracks to come to mind...Josh Wink's "Higher State of Consciousness," Dave Clarke's "Red 1," LAURENT GARNIER's "Flashback," the Holden Remix of NATHAN FAKE's "The Sky Was Pink." But there are so many more. Do you find new ideas for your music everywhere?Describe to me such a moment in which the "perfect" idea comes to your mind. You can actually be inspired by everything and everyone, you just have to allow it and be open to the emotional worlds that surround you every day or even slumber in oneself. Translating these emotions into music is not only the hardest part of the production, it is also particularly demanding to put this whole thing into words. Actually, I do not even know where to start, it finally happens instinctively. After many years in the electronic music circuit, how do you feel about your evolution as an artist? Did you ever imagine reaching to this point? For me, my evolution as an artist occurred in three stages. The first stage was when I started mixing records records; the second one is when I became a composer and the final stage saw me become a full-time professional. Honestly, at no time did I ever think that I’d reach this point one day, but I’m thrilled because my job is my true passion! One of the more exciting gigs for you this year must have been Carl Cox’s party at Space Ibiza where you played B2B with POPOF. This was also Carl Cox’s final party in Ibiza, as well as Space Ibiza’s final season. In your time since you’ve played in Ibiza, what have been the biggest changes that have happened? Oh my goodness yes, it was amazing, such a good party. I loved playing B2B with POPOF for Carl Cox’s Space closing, the vibe was incredible. I haven’t really noticed any major changes though, I enjoy going to Ibiza and always have. https://soundcloud.com/drumcode/sets/julian-jeweil-space-drumcode-dc179"I like to be clear-minded when I create music; it’s almost impossible for me to go through this process in the middle of day-time because I’m much less focused then."
