Avicii gets laptop stolen ahead of ongoing crowd-sourcing project

Avicii aka Tim Bergling has been making the news lately. Just a few days ago, the laptop of the Swedish producer was stolen from his hotel room. The hard drive contained 8 unfinished tracks without back-ups.

Avicii instantly took to his Twitter account, saying:

“My computer was stolen along with project files to 8 brand new tracks ive been playin. And no backup.”

Although the computer hasn't been recovered, the Avicii and the police has information of the potential thief:

“I know the guy who did it because of cameras and stuff but he still wont confess and give back what he took. This is so fn annoying.”

Annoying to say the least. Bergling has been setting up a new laptop trying to install all of his VST plugins and samples, in case he doesn't get the old one back. Another good news for the fans of the Swedish producer is that the man still has mp3's of the unfinished traks. However, that means a lot of hours remaking the tracks as good as possible. Bergling's also commented about the painful, yet learning experience - he'll be setting up a Dropbox account for his upcoming projects.

This hasn't been the only DJ related thievery of late. Eats Everything had his memory cards and headphones stolen just recently, before him Blawan and Art Department suffered similar fates. Read more!

Meanwhile, you still have time to help him in this time of need. Yes, you can directly participate in the making of Avicii's single. He's calling out to all aspiring musicians and producers to send him different elements of a song. 'The world's largest music collaboration' officially launches on January 9th, so there's still some time left. Head to the link below, to hear the chord progression to which a melody is needed.
