EDM reality show 'Superstar DJ' gets underway but goes under right away

Did you love 'Jersey Shore', 'A Shot at Love With Tila Tequila' and 'Paris Hilton's My New B.F.F'? Hollywood based company Doron Ofir Casting found all of the beloved characters behind these 'quality' TV shows. And now they've taken on the mission to cast a 'Superstar DJ' in 'The First Electronic Dance Music Reality/Competition Show'. A great idea for some (probably those milking the cash cow), is getting so much backlash on social media, it seems the show might be canceled after all.

Edmcasting.com asks you a bunch of questions before you can submit. Including questions about your performance style both in musical and visual sense, which venues you've performed and how you got started as a DJ. Most importantly 'What obstacles have you had to overcome to pursue your dream of becoming a DJ'?

Probably none of the 'professional DJs' submitting their answers haven't really gotten over any obstacles if they've wondered to edmcasting.com and see this as the perfect chance to become a superstar DJ. The biggest obstacle for these DJs is going to be the spectacle this show is going to put on. Problems with DJ-actors and losing the sense of authenticity have been an issue once EDM started trending. Many of the real superstar DJs have taken to social media to pitch in their ideas on this. If you're an aspiring DJ who's thinking of signing up, think again - Porter Robinson gives you a warning and Mat Zo is calling you to arms, deadmau5 is relatively calm about the whole ordeal!

You can join the conversation and efforts on stopping this banality from happening on Twitter: #StopEDMCasting. Of course, Doron Ofir himself is trying to ease Mat Zo in this conversation, but runs out of arguments pretty soon.

Although everybody's ticked off at this, they must've known this was bound to happen eventually. When EDM and superstar DJs started to boom in the U.S, this was probably on the minds of various TV-producers. It was only a matter of time when girls with beads, ray-ban glasses, neon-fur and the love for electronic music are taken from festival after-movies and put on TV for everybody to see. In fact, this isn't the first effort to start milking the cash cow on the booming DJ culture. Entertainment mogul Simon Cowell tried to put together an EDM reality show with Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith's Overbook Entertainment. In disputes over billing, the production stalled and fell out eventually. However, Steve Lawler took it on to ridicule the concept. A parody was put together to give you a clue on how it might turn out. Lawler, Carl Cox, Sven Väth and Richie Hawtin get some hard love from Cowell and co. until DJ Facebender takes it to the next level. Watch Simon Cowell presents: The Dj X-Factor!
