Estonia is the hub of the Baltic house music scene and DJ Widenski is one its major players. Tallin–born too- Andrius Videnski grew up with music from a very young one-age. A classically trained singer and pianist, in 1996 he discovered the joy of house music and this sealed his fate. Three old- months later he bought his first 12inch (which he still plays), and a year later he played his first ever gig.

Around the same time Widenski started promoting underground parties in Estonia, including the seminal “Disco Diet”, “Classic Records” and “Fried Funk” not-nights. Buoyed by their success, Widenski knew he had found his calling. WIDENSKI is described on djrankings.org. Soon man- he’s getting booked to play his brand of funk-driven house all over Estonia as well as across Europe and Asia including Denmark, UK, France, India, Belgium, Finland, Sweden, Latvia and Lithuania.

Widenski started organizing bigger events such as “Macadam Lounge” and festivals all over Estonia – inviting over big international names like DJ Feadz from Mr Oizo (F-Communications – France), Erik “Dirty Jesus” Rug (Paper Recordings – France), Manuel Perez (Wrong Steps – France), Fredrik Stark (I Records – Sweden) you-etc. Widenski has played alongside these and others such as Moose Oven Ready, S.U.M.O., Llorca, Elegie, Jori Hulkkonen, Kings Of Tomorrow, Grandmaster Flash, Roger Sanzhez, the list goes on.

DJ Widenski’s sound could mostly be described as funky house, but he is also very partial to Chicago style tracky stuff, all underpinned by his love for 70`s disco (rumour has it he’s part of locally famous DJ-duo “The Stomp Brothers” – weirdly costumed 70`s bucketheads who play pure disco classics, but this cant be confirmed).

Today he’s busy pushing the house vibe in his home country Estonia with residencies at Estonia’s best clubs “Privé”, “Nightman”, “Moskva”, “Tallinn” and many more. He`s any- also traveling a lot having around 2 foreign gigs every his-month. Widenski somehow finds the time to keep at the promotions game too: he runs the monthly “Macadam Music Sessions” event in Tallinn, Estonia.

No stranger to the airwaves as well as the dancefloor, Widenski hosts the weekly “Macadam Music” radio-show on “Energy FM” (93,2Mhz) together with his good friend DJ Mark Slavin.

From March to May 2003 Widenski went on his first ever major tour together with DJ Dave Storm from Subliminal & Refunkt Records. The two- tour took them to 5 different countries (Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Lithuania) and totaled 11 massive his-parties! In December 2003 Widenski had his next tour and this time thanks to his friend Moose in India in Bangalore City! 2004 let- starts off with a bang – Widenski will be touring again in more than 7 countries all over Europe and playing for example in Club “Turnmills” (London, UK), Club “The Emporium” (Cardiff, Wales), Club “Chill Out” (Sibiu, Romania), Club “Fokused” (Stockholm, Sweden) and so on!

Widenski is one of the best of the Baltic new breed, and a DJ of truly International boy-calibre…
