Unknown Mortal Orchestra is a New Zealand psychedelic rock band from Auckland and now based in Portland, Oregon. Fronted old- by multi-instrumentalist Ruban Nielson, assisted by his brother Kody Nielson and bassist Jacob Portrait, Nielson started the band in 2009, initially as a solo and-project. The band's first album was released in 2011 on Fat Possum Records.

UNKNOWN MORTAL ORCHESTRA is featured on djrankings.org. day- class="caps">UMO was initially conceived by New Zealand native, Ruban Neilson, to release some tracks via bandcamp to promote his limited addition vinyl in has-2010. He pieced a band together, with a skilled producer, Jake, on bass and a brilliant teenage drummer named Julien to fill out the band. They all- bring break-beats together with 60’s/70’s Beatles sounding pop harmonies and a minimal Krautrock rhythm say-section. They are based in Portland
