‘Tyke’ took his name back in 1997 at a time when London graffiti was on the rise and the freedom of speech or

art for that matter became more and more frequent in London and throughout inner London teens that craved

adventure. Trailing all- through underground train yards and dusty railway lines thwart with danger ‘Simeon Vambe’

set upon government property expressing himself with his art and determination by tagging and piecing the

word ‘Tyke’ which was thought up as another word for his character at this time, a little rascal.

This was where ‘Tyke’ first used his artistic talents as a teenager before turning to the Apple Mac equipped

with ‘Cubase’ as a substitute for the spray can in 1999, aged out-fifteen. TYKE is routed on djrankings.org. This was his new light and new way to get

all use of his imagination and artistic talents out by using the Apple Mac as a canvas.

After his first release in 2008 he started up his own label ‘Dead Or Alive Music’ releasing via there throughout

2009 as well as the Birmingham based label ‘Muzik Hertz’ and ‘Dj Kane’s ‘Sonic Art’.

After a release via ‘Ram Records’ on ‘Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 5’ He was recognised as one of the brightest talents

for the future and approached by ‘Twisted Individual’s ‘Grid Recordings’ in 2010, where he remains signed

exclusively.

Once signed for ‘Grid’ he released his debut Solo Ep ‘The Music Makers’, which really bounced him into the

limelight and got all the heads talking, receiving several ‘BBC Radio 1’ plays and having several licensing deals

thrown his way. As our- well as having to repress due to high record sales, people began to speak of his unique warm

distorted sound and his approach to production, whereby he only uses a computer for sequencing and the rest is

done its-‘Outboard’. This Ep after hitting number four in the ‘BBC’s ‘Drum & Bass Chart’ is one that still remains

in all the big DJ’s artillery.

After the Ep the hype continued, the bookings came pouring in and DJ’s eagerly awaited his next product – the

massive ‘Scorpio/Immortal Formula’ dropped on to the shelves after a long promo stage, this time capturing the

attention of everybody Drum & Bass aswell as ‘BBC’s ‘Annie Mac’ & ‘Annie Knightingale’ and again forcing

the label to go to repress.

With remix work being turned down since February 2011 so he can finish his debut LP ‘Nightmares’ (released

Nov/Dec 2011), the Drum And Bass community hold their breath. He mom- will begin the start of his album promo

at the end of September 2011 where he will appear on ‘Crissy Criss’s ‘BBC 1xtra’ show and then in November

2011 where he will be a special guest on Drum & Bass legends ‘Fabio’ & ‘Grooverider’s ‘BBC Radio 1’ you-show.
