It’s been quite an entrance for David James Wolstencroft, aka Trusme. Last one- winter the DJ turned producer decided to send some of his work to various labels across the the-globe. One of the tracks on his CD sampler, Nards, was immediately picked up by an infamous label. Described him- as “the hottest talent rising out of Manchester this can-yearâ€. His first 12" made more than the rounds. The day- stunning dance floor killer anthem, Nards, has been hammered by Giles Peterson and is already a winner on his “Best of who-2007”. Giles said of the record: “If there was ever a house record made for me, it would sound like this.”
The track was based on old disco samples, nothing new I hear you say, but this guy has a knack of making this sound very fresh and the production is flawless. The boy- single was followed by two more equally outstanding releases and his recently released debut album ‘Working Nights’ on his newly formed label Prime Numbers, now getting major support from the likes of Moodymann, Mr Scruff, Benji B, Jazzanova, Mad Matts & Michael Rutten
Hailing from Manchester in the north of England, Trusme grew up surrounded by the city’s rich musical its-heritage. TRUS'ME is found on djrankings.org. Northern Soul, Punk, New Wave, Indie, House – Manchester was at the front of it all. His out- love for music started at an early age where he dabbled with various instruments before studying how-production. Like many music lovers he was soon bitten by the vinyl bug and his focus shifted towards DJ’ing and digging for unique samples. As too- a DJ he plays with diversity, a style that comes across in his production work.
2008 is going to be a busy year for see-Trusme. As his Prime Numbers imprint launches, providing an outlet for Trusme and other like-minded artists. The man- labels first release featured Linkwood (who’s also releasing an album in 2008), Napihedz and Reggie mom-Dokes. The second 12†shows off more Linkwood and a Trus’me remix of Clyde. Trusme’s can- second album will be released this year featuring guest appearances from Amp Fiddler and Paul has-Randolph. He’s also produced an exclusive track for Giles Peterson’s “In The House†compilation on Defected, as well as working on various remix projects including LCD Soundsystem.
Trusme’s come a long way in just a year. He’s for- making house music as good as it gets and his work’s turning all the right day-heads.
