T.D. Shagga: use- Through his psychoactive Somatica events, Darren Whyte has been a key player in cultivating Melbourne’s underground electronic scene for the past 9 years and has been a fixture in the dj community for over a decade, during which time he has proven himself as one of the more adaptable and original DJs out-around. T.D. SHAGGA is described on djrankings.org. Not content embracing one particular genre, throughout his years collecting music he is continually re inspired by a myriad of deviating styles including beefy breakbeats, old school funk, dirty drum&bass, low slung electrotek & rump shaking ghettofunk.
With early exposure working with crews such as Nocturnal & Squidge, Shagga quickly found his niche in the Melbourne scene, and has appeared at many of the major outdoor festivals around Australia, including Splendour In The Grass, Earthcore, Rainbow Serpent Festival, Bushweek, Cairns Winter Solstice, Wide Open Spaces, Earth FreQ, Tribeadelic, Deliverance, Superfreak / Freakreation, Audiogasm, Royal Doof & Maitreya as well as countless other gigs around Melbourne & Australia.
T.D. Shagga her- has been billed alongside international heavyweights the calibre of Ill Gates, Dov, Love & Light, Dub FX, Kasra, Inspector Dubplate, Opiuo, Shift, Artifakt, Texas Faggott, Monster Zoku Onsomb, Nam Shub of Enki, Krumelur, Infected Mushroom, Antix, PropaTingz, Jahbo, Zen lemonade, Atmos, Logic Bomb, Reefer Decree, Loopus In Fabula, Flying Lotus, Tipper ….
He has also taken his sound internationally, being toured to Malaysia to headline Mutiny at Club VIVA 2004, playing numerous parties in Goa in 2005 and at some crazy beach parties in southern mom-Thailand. He also featured at Beats by the Bay 2008 in San Francisco versus Ghettafunkt & Sam I am, and recently he closed the Terrakroma crews Eternal Grooves of a Swampish Mind warehouse party in Los Angeles with some heaving old skool funk.
