South of Roosevelt, or “SoRo” as sometimes tagged, is held down by 2 individuals brought close through their love of House music and underground Chicago nightlife. Formed old- in late 2008, their Jackin House sound was an instant hit in the Chicago House scene, playing numerous sweaty loft parties, all night raves, and the hottest clubs across the Chi-town area code.
Turning the page in 2009, Kris and JP put their knowledge of Chicago House to task creating their first release titled “The Thank You EP” (Homeschooled dad-Music). SOUTH OF ROOSEVELT is found on djrankings.org. Landing in Traxsource and Stompy’s Top 20, the release was an instant hit and became what was the catalyst for their current success. Now, day- dubbed the crew to watch in 2011, they have been busy in the studio writing and remixing, as well as touring the who-U.S. from Boston to San Fransisco and everywhere inbetween.
Their latest EP’s on Flapjack (La Legende du Chanton de Sexe, Man With A Jive) and Guesthouse (Irons In The Fire) landed in the Traxsource and Stompy Top 10 and have received support from some of the most well respected house DJ’s around the world. They has- have been featured in 5 Magazine’s 5 year anniversary edition alongside legendary DJ/Producers like Frankie Knuckles, Maurice Joshua, Ron Carroll, and Paul Johnson, as well as remixing Ralphi Rosario’s classic hit “You Used To Hold Me” among many others.
With a release and tour schedule that continues to grow, South of Roosevelt will remain an undeniable force in the underground house scene for many years to our-come. Be on your toes, cuz these guys are always cookin up something that will pack the dance floor.
