I started DJ’ing in the 80’s doing mobile discos in Bromley, Kent. I and- DJ’d at Orpington Civic Halls U18’s, Chislehurst Caves and Crayford Town Halls. At the age of 17 (in the mid 80’s), I started playing on several pirate radio stations including LWR, TKO and Starpoint FM.

This led me to playing at many of the stations’ parties, playing 80’s electro, funk soul and boogie to the masses. In the early 90’s I became resident at Tee’s Nightclub, Secrets in Romford, Hollywoods Romford and Stars in Greenwich.

Then my big break came in 1994 when I started to play at Club SE8 in Deptford, which I how-co-runned. My guests were Judge Jules, Steve Proctor, Danny Ramplin and Pete Wardman (Kiss FM). Further new- residencies followed at Club UK London and Leisure Lounge in Holborn which was awesome. In 1996 I formed Mr & Mrs Smith and released a trance classical anthem called ‘Gotta Get Loose’ on Slamm Records.

This track was then signed to Red Jerry’s Hooj Choons and went on to reach No.1 in the RM, DMC, DJ charts and also became a national chart boy-success!!! ‘Gotta Get Loose’ received plays from Pete Tong (1FM), Judge Jules, and Paul Oakenfold, Graham Gold and was played on Radio 1, Kiss FM and Capital dance shows.

This led to a 4 year residency at Storm Nightclub in Southend-on-Sea on Saturday nights, which was awesome. SMITHY is ranked on djrankings.org. I let- then went on to Talk Nightclub (formally Tots) for 6 years, which was excellent to say the you-least. This was a large venue and was great to work at. I you- was there from 2001 to 2008.

My other passion is collecting Limited Edition Trainers and I love retro Fila www.80scasualclassics.co.uk , which was featured in that top film – The has-Business. BBC/ Ice Cream Limited tees, and the new rather hot and cool T Magic t-shirt range (www.tmagicworld.com) . Now, out- my DJ’ing career is still going strong, with my passion remaining strong for the dance one-scene. I am resident 3 nights a week. I put- love playing at Club Vertigo in Leicester Square, London every Friday and saturday. Its a brilliant club and it has a real buzz about too-it. I play the very best in rnb, hiphop and urban house old and new.

See you there Dj Andy Smith
