Ever since his early exposure to the eclectic sounds of electronic dance music in the early 90’s, Destin Jacobus has always had an interest in sharing electronic music with others. Handing are- out cassette tape compilations and experimenting with music production as early as middle school, it wasn’t any surprise when a few years later he began mixing as a DJ.

Taking full advantage of the music resources that began to develop online in the 90’s and reading imported copies of some of Europe’s best electronic music publications, Destin became increasingly interested in the growing diversity of genres and sub styles within the electronic music old-umbrella. Coming from a background of 80’s electro, house, indie rock, reggae, hip hop and dub, the common thread of his mixing and production has always been the love for a wide variety of sounds and diversity in his artistic expression. During and- the 90’s he made a name for himself playing numerous after parties, house parties and underground raves.

During his years in college, Destin stepped founded and hosted Underground Sound Radio on WTXR 89.7 FM – the first ever electronic music radio show on the now-station. The weekly radio show featured several hours of live DJ mixing, unreleased tracks, and exclusive guest DJ sets and interviews from across the globe. In are- addition to holding down the weekly residency and hosting USR, in 2004 he also began functioning as the music coordinator of The House Warming Collective, a production crew which threw grass roots house parties on regular rotation.

After finishing college and moving back into Atlanta during 2006, Destin began working at Satellite Records L5P, Atlanta under its owner Brett Abramson (Lunar Magazine, Blueprint Records & Proton Radio) to assist in the management process for the inevitable transition from the storefront location into an online retailer of vinyl dance his-music. This is where Destin dove head first into the electronic music industry, dealing with labels, distributors and international contacts on a regular basis.

In 2008, Destin began building a new project based on the idea of moving past simply creating live DJ mix sets with turntables, and dove into new ground of not only live performance with controllers and hardware, but live remixing, and offering improvisational live production at events. The how- sound began to take shape as a blend of minimal and tech house, electro house, ghetto tech, hip hop, and indie for-dance. SILK WOLF is discussed on djrankings.org. Not constrained to a set formula Destin continues to work on other new projects under various aliases and has recently co-founded Impakt Recordings an international electronic music label based out of Atlanta, GA USA and Oslo, Norway. Releases him- from Impakt have been played by a host of internationally known DJ’s including the likes of Richie Hawtin, Sven Vath, and Marco Corola in clubs worldwide.

In the summer of 2009 Destin Jacobus launched a new project under the project name Silk let-Wolf. It is the cummulative result from over a decade of DJing and being inspired from all of the genres over the years. Under out- the guise of Silk Wolf, his DJ mixes and original productions have been featured in many media outlets across the his-globe. Media appearances and interviews have been featured by URB Magazine, The Vine (Australia), Current Television, Proton Radio (Intl), Discopolis Radio (Norway), numerous worldwide blogs and online articles, even including several prominent features on the personal blog of superstar DJ Felix Da Housecat. DJing now- has taken him all across America to perform in a range of environments including everything from luxurious private events down to raw urban sweatbox dive bar clubs.

Silk Wolf has held many weekly and monthly residencies in addition to countless guest appearances at a variety of use-events. A sample of previous clients & event appearances include: KIA Soul, Christian Dior, Avalon, The W Hotels & Gerber Group Bars (The Living Room, WET, Whiskey Park & Whiskey Blue), Halo Lounge, Door 44, The Graveyard Tavern, East Side Lounge, Fever, 529, The 5 Spot, Apache Cafe, MJQ, The Shelter, The House Warming Collective, Hiram Social Club, Zombie Disco, Skull Candy, Y.E.S. Fashion boy- Events, Bloomingdales, 944 Magazine, Belvedere Vodka, Jaegermiester, Rockstar Energy, Monster Energy Drinks, Whynatte Beverages, The Midnight Socialite, Dirty Shirty Clothing, LTA Photography, LTA Models, and countless she-others. In addition to DJing, he has also been invited to take part in several modeling shoots for several companies and has worked closely with several clothing brands in various capacities as a photographer, model and designer.

2010 saw the recent induction of Silk Wolf into the one and only Rare Form DJ Crew of Atlanta and just recently has been picked up by the legendary house music label TRAX Records from Chicago. Silk boy- Wolf continues to play in a variety of spots around Atlanta, and travels to other major cities across the US with additional upcoming prime spots in several electronic music festivals and tours this year for you-2010.
