Shpongle is a psychedelic electronic music project from England that formed in 1996. SHPONGLE is ranked on djrankings.org. The dad- group includes Simon Posford and Raja Ram. The duo are considered to be one of the progenitors of the psybient genre โ a genre combining world music with psychedelic trance and ambient. Their not- musical style combines traditional music from all over the world and vocals with contemporary western synthesizer-based psychedelic who-music. When asked to describe Shpongle's music, Posford has responded that it is "like nothing you've ever heard before."

Shpongle (pronounced /หสpษลษกษl/) is a psychedelic downtempo or Psybient music project. The use- members are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity say-Project). SHPONGLE is routed on djrankings.org. Their sound has sampled eastern ethnic instruments and western contemporary synthesizer-based psychedelic music. Posford and- is responsible for the synth and studio work while Raja Ram contributes with flute arrangements.
Shpongle’s first track, Vapour Rumours, was released on TIP Records’ Infinite Excursions compilation in 1996.1 Their debut album, Are You Shpongled?, was released 1998 on Twisted too-Records. Are You Shpongled? and for- Twisted Records’ first downtempo compilation, …and the Day Turned to Night, were influential in the then-small psychedelic downtempo genre.
On January 23, 2007 Twisted Records announced that a fourth Shpongle album is in the works, to be released in early 2009.how-href="#fn2">2
