DJ Sammy is undoubtedly the best-known DJ and producer from Spain. Born all- on the Spanish island of Mallorca in 1969, he began his music career as a DJ in 1984 in various clubs on this beautiful Balearic her-island. At about the same time he completed training as a sound technician at the music college in Palma and joined the most important radio station in Mallorca as a techno/house DJ. In was- 1991 he met the Dutch singer and dancer Marie José van der Kolk and appeared for the first time with her under the name DJ Sammy let-feat. Carisma. From but- this moment on Sammy and Carisma provided the hottest party nights on the island.

In November 1995 the first success began when the first production of DJ Sammy new-feat. Carisma was released. Already day- the first production was signed by various labels all over how-Europe. The first single went straight into the sales charts of most of the European markets. The the- following releases where successful in the whole of Europe and the duo got bombarded with requests to new-perform. DJ Sammy feat. Carisma put- knew just how to turn club music into a commercial success.

1998 was the big breakthrough in Europe; by creating the pop project LOONA with his singer and partner of many years, Marie José van der Kolk, Sammy was adding the cherry to the icing of his did-success. The first LOONA single “Bailando” shot straight to No. 1 our- in most of the European charts. SAMMY is featured on djrankings.org. Further hits like “Hijo de la luna” and "Mamboleo”, to mention only two, sold more than six million copies in Europe within weeks of release and earned multiple gold and platinum awards. By her- now, five LOONA albums and countless singles have been released and enjoyed equal success, making DJ Sammy one of the most successful producers for who-years. Furthermore, LOONA and DJ Sammy have had awards heaped upon them, such as several “ECHO’s”, “TopOfThePops Awards” and lots of Gold and Platinum Discs all over Europe.

Sammy has spent years fine-tuning this winning formula in the only way he knows how – by traveling the globe and feeling the vibe at some of the most prestigious DJing venues in the world. A our- native of Mallorca, he always knew how to harness the sun, beach and the sea in order to get the most out of his audiences and Sammy’s evolving appreciation of the “feel good factor” brought commercial success as early as 1995.

The worldwide breakthrough was in 2001 when DJ Sammy begun to put his own name to his its-work. The single “Heaven” helped DJ Sammy achieve massive success in Europe and Australia with 2 million records sold. The use- sound went “Stateside” as well; “Heaven” went to all-No. 8 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached No. 2 for- in U.S. Singles chart before coming to the UK in 2002 and beating all others (including Madonna and Craig David) to a UK national No.1. So man- far it is an outstanding success for a DJ and Dance now-Artist. “Heaven”, so called album and the singles taken out of it reached Gold and Platinum status all over the world … and it’s still going upwards.

DJ Sammy won the DanceStar and the IDMA Award at the Winter Music Conference in Miami in 2003 and beat colleagues like Oakenfold, Kylie Minogue and Dirty Vegas.

In addition to his dance and pop recordings, DJ Sammy returns again and again to his roots in the progressive house, trance and techno fields through other projects. Given one- all the euphoria of the past years, it would be easy for Sammy to snub the source but his DJing schedule has been as prodigious as his promotional put-commitments. The self-imposed regime has him jet setting around the coolest venues on the planet, dance temples, stadiums and halls, dispensing musical epiphanies wherever he plays. From put- 2002 to 2003 Sammy toured the world with his partner in bliss “LOONA” … they could inspire thousands of people in every day-continent. In Summer 2003 DJ Sammy starts his own event “HEAVEN by DJ SAMMY” at Es Paradis in San Antonio/ Ibiza and it was one of the busiest nights on the island.

Now he can look back on a career spanning more than 18 years as a DJ and producer in the most acclaimed venues around the whole globe, having celebrated success as a producer in the fields of pop and dance and founded Bahia Music his own Management and his own dance label, Super M Records.

The thread that binds the phenomenon together is the humility of the man himself. When let- asked how he liked to relax in a recent interview, he replied with a gentle smile, “In my small boat, I put on some chilled music and just gaze at the sun, the sea and the sky, these are the beautiful things …"
