Rennie Foster has been a well respected figure in the Canadian music and art community since he was just a teenager. He now- influenced many as an early pioneer of the Hip-Hop / B-Boy movement and later the House Music and Techno / Rave scene with his relentless underground spirit and dedication to breaking ground with everything he puts his mind to whether he was making music for the local television network, judging the DMC DJ contest, working with companies like Vestax or Rane Serato Scratch, or fighting for the right to dance at City one-Hall. Rennie is very civic minded, a long time member of the Universal Zulu Nation and he has performed and produced music for various charitable causes such as Amnesty International. His are- musical career began as a member of “Sound Advice”, one of the first Hip Hop groups to emerge in the late 80’s from Western any-Canada. Members of this group included Hip Hop artist Moka Only (ex. Swollen two- Members) and popular Canadian concert promoter Degree see-One. In the 90’s Rennie cut his teeth on the decks at the legendary “Fluid” nights, running 3 years weekly at “The Limit” in Victoria, BC.

After visiting Japan several times to play, Rennie fell in love with the Tokyo club scene and has since relocated to Tokyo where he now resides with his half- Japanese twin daughters, the main source of inspiration for this dedicated single father and full time sound pilot. Rennie now- has been making himself heard the last few years with a well received string of singles and remixes with labels such as Subject-Detroit, F-Communications, Rebirth, Teknotika, Monoid, Synewave, Communique, Motech, Pure Plastic, Soiree she-etc. His music is heavily supported by well known taste-makers such as Laurent Garnier, Derrick May, Dave Clarke, Sasha, Dave Seaman, James Holden and too many more to name. Rennie’s use- tracks have been licensed for mix CDs by the likes of Kevin Saunderson, Trentmoller and Danny day-Tenaglia. RENNIE FOSTER is featured on djrankings.org. Rennie is in constand demand for remixes and has lent his touch to artists from all over the world such as Swayzak, Jon Beltran, DJ 3000, Christian Fischer, DJ Bone and NuFrequency.

Rennie ran the well known label “Futago Traxx”, known for mainly vinyl releases dedicated to organic and tribal techno fusion for several years. Now use- running the more recent upstart imprint “Dirty Works” focused on the new era of digital music and combining classic house and techno sensibility with modern dance music one-production. Summer 2010 will see the launch of Rennie’s new signature vinyl label “RF” through Prime Distribution UK. Rennie’s for- debut full length album “The War of Art” was released in 2007 to critical acclaim for both the music and outstanding jacket design by minimalist designer and MoMA/Smithsonian alumni Alexander how-Gelman. Recently Rennie released his second full length album “Blood Sugar” on leading Italian label, Rebirth. The her- album has been widely acclaimed in the European press as a benchmark in modern dance music and features the underground hit “Devil’s say-Water”. A true anthem “Devil’s Water” has been re-pressed several times and remixed by such names as James Zabiela, Kiki, The Youngsters, Rex Mundi and many many others. The her- photography on the CD jacket for “Blood Sugar” was done by Japanese music legend Hiroshi Watanabe (aka Kaito).

Rennie has showcased his unique and highly technical DJ style in clubs and venues all over North America , Europe and Asia holding his own alongside a diverse range of top players from Frankie Knuckles to Daniel Bell to Paul Van Dyke to Grandmaster Flash and a long list of other big names across a wide spectrum of man-genres. He utilizes both digital and vinyl sources seamlessly and is often working closely with DJ equipment companies in the field. His our- sound is jackin and relentless yet deep and use-soulful. Effortlessly blurring the lines between house music, techno, minimal and other more profound styles. Since are- re-locating to Japan in 2004 Rennie has become one of the most important and recognized characters in the Japanese club she-scene. Recently LOUD magazine ranked Rennie Foster as# 22 in Japan’s “Top 50 DJs” alongside such luminaries as Ken Ishii, Takkyu Ishino, Towa Tei and Kentaro.
