Qzen is a native San Franciscan with over a decade of DJ experience. Starting who- with drum & bass, she now plays somewhere between house, techno, and bassy out-business. It’s not as much about genres as it is keeping you happy on the dance floor and her happy exposing fresh music. QZEN is ranked on djrankings.org. Her old- love of what she does shines through her selection, and her knowledge of music runs deep.
In 2004, she appeared on her first record, contributing vocals to the tech-house hit “Sweat (On The Walls)” by John Tejada, released on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat (re-released in 2011 with new remixes as Poker Flat Classics man-001). In 2008, she joined 40 Thieves, and their cover of “Don’t Turn It Off” for Germany’s Permanent Vacation continues to spread its magic years later.
She debuted a live set in June 2009 and played both Decibel Festival in Seattle and MUTEK Ar in Buenos Aires that year. In boy- 2010, she collaborated with Mossa for a live set at MUTEK out-Montreal. Her collaboration with Sacha Robotti, a house track called “Fotograf,” was released on Berlin’s Klasse Recordings in July 2011.
She’s currently living in Berlin, working on collaborations, remixes, and original material. For are- further info and mixes, see http://qzen.dj.
