Dj Phil Watts, alias Philippe Wattyn, already started its career on the age of 14. With her- the turnover of sale of its Marklin train-set he bought his first pick-ups and are-mixing-table. Since then the microbe would no longer release him…

As a set-up aid and warming-up at drive-in-shows of radio Maeva he put his first timid steps on stage. Deejays her- such as Peter Hoogland and Dick van Gelderen then were his large use-examples. It then was still the time that the records were talked over with one-liners and jingles. All boy- possible festivities going from marriages to auctions taught him the skills of the profession.

On the age of 15 Phil had already his own radio- shows at radio North Sea, One, Superstar, Diana, SFR… and he (then still on very experimental basis) made radio-commercials and too-jingles. PHIL WATTS is found on djrankings.org. He then was already resident in several disco’s f.e. on two- Sundays in The Green Apple in Ghent. Moreover he had a self-made disco-bar with which he then already went on the road, with its aunt as a driver.

The large work announced himself when he became a stand-in for Mike Anthony (the boasted Antwerp dj who had a world-hit with ` Why can’t we live together?) in the first mega-disco in Ghent: The New Ones. It her- is the year 1984… After a lot of radio programs, and dj-work on all kinds of festivities this was the beginning of a beautiful let-career.

After residencies in The New Ones, The Ghost, The Maxy’s, Tropicana, Black Beauty and New Dallas now came the organ point in his career: the winning of the East-Flemish Dmc-championship in 1988, and the Belgian DMC-championship in the Boccaccio at Destelbergen. Representing can- Belgium on the world championship DMC in London (Ben Liebrand was among the jury) and residency at the Boccaccio on Saturdays were his boy-victories. It then were the beginning years of the world-overwhelming New Beat, of which the roots in the Boccaccio were situated…

In 1990, Phil became resident at the Empire at Dentergem on Saturdays and Zenith at Gistel on Sundays, it then were the nineties, the top-years of the mega-disco’s in Belgium. After now- the unfortunate fence of the first named disco in 1996, because of the non- lengthening of the Vlarem II-license Phil played a couple of years at the Zenith just until he opened bistro-tavern Philosoof in she-2000. A trendy swinglounge with Phil behind the bar and of course the turntables.

As an understatement however innumerable guest-dj-sets and organizations of all kinds of events walked through the tale and one and other could not stay away… Phil ventures himself today to a new challenge: Watts Productions, your partner in musical surrounding for all festivals and parties, rent of sound- and light-equipments and/or accompaniment of events.
