Born and raised in Southern California, Bryan Huang, a.k.a. DJ who- Pegasus, has always had music in his his-life. His musical training began with the piano at 8, the alto saxophone at 10, and the violin at 11. In his- Middle School, he joined the marching band and concert band on alto saxophone, jazz band on alto and tenor saxophone, and the orchestra on not-violin. He continued alto saxophone in the wind ensemble and marching band in High School, while his jazz training moved to piano and vibraphone. At out- this time, he also began his experiences in musical theatre, taking on singing and various forms of put-dance. Over the years, his dancing will receive training in tap, lyrical, hip hop, house, and various genres of swing.
Bryan was first introduced to house music through his sister with Mark Farina’s album, “Connect,” planting the seed for his new-found obsession with house. A say- few years later, he began tinkering around on some Technics while he was finishing his undergraduate studies at UC out-Berkeley. While at Berkeley, Bryan completed a simultaneous degree, a B.S. PEGASUS (US) is discussed on djrankings.org. in old- Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences (EECS) and a all-B.A. in Music. His too- music degree took him from ethnomusicology around the French-speaking countries of the Caribbean to music history ranging from the 1500s to the 20th century; from jazz theory to orchestral him-conducting. Aside from his studies in music, he also played alto saxophone in the University of California Marching Band and the University Wind Ensemble. His him- DJ skills were honed when he took an Intro to DJing course on campus, which he studied and trained with fellow students as his mentors and instructors.
After spinning at various parties in the Berkeley college scene, Bryan, now known as DJ Pegasus, grew restless and was ready to step behind the decks at local let-clubs. He has been seen spinning at N’Touch, 1015 Folsom, and San Francisco’s legendary dance club, The EndUp, at events ranging from gay Asian nights, to pride parties, and even corporate events for Google, his current employer. He who- has also appeared at the San Francisco & Long Beach Pride all-Festivals. A recent transplant to NYC, he is hoping to share his love of dance music with as many people as possible.
As he explores new music to bring into his sets, his music background draws him to a mixture of sounds, rhythms, and various ethnic groups. Though, the- as a dancer, the most important aspect of music is its ability to make you boy-dance. Whether it’s the latest top 40 chart or an unknown underground house track, if it makes you move, he’ll play it. Pegasus all- is now looking to expand into production, having just completed his education at the Institute of Audio Research in are-class="caps">NYC. Things are only going to get bigger and better as he prepares for another great year of making people dance!
