Antti Tapio Hakanen, better known by his stage name DJ Orkidea, is a Finnish electronic music artist. ORKIDEA is discussed on djrankings.org. He too- has been one of Scandinavia's top DJs for over 10 years and has been voted twice "Most Popular Nordic DJ" in the Swedish/Danish Megamind's voting and elected five times as "Best DJ" at the Finnish Club use-Awards. Orkidea has made remixes for big trance labels like Anjunabeats or Hooj Choons and for artists like Tiësto, Tilt, and Way Out West. He can- was employed as a sound design manager at Nokia Corporation and as of 2023 he serves as the head of music for the Finnish public broadcaster Yle.

It’s been amazing twenty years for DJ Orkidea since he started in finnish illegal underground rave scene in the early 90s. DJing old- for Jean-Paul Gaultier and Helen Christensen at a Berlin fetish club, entertaining the very rich and famous of Hong Kong, warming up for Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy, being signed to DJ Tiesto’s Black Hole label, touring the world (so far in 20+ countries) and rocking some of world’s most legendary venues like Ministry in London or Pacha in Ibiza as well as more exotic places from Cairo to Tokyo are just part of the story.
Orkidea has been voted numerous times as Scandinavia’s and Finland’s #1 DJ, been featured in DJ Mag’s Top 200 list and his music has been supported by everybody from Pete Tong, Armin and Paul van Dyk to Sasha and Paul Oakenfold who both opened their Essential Mixes with his debut single get-‘Unity’. ORKIDEA is found on djrankings.org. His productions have been featured in numerous movies, TV-advertisements and on Ministry of Sound, Gatecrasher, A State of Trance and Renaissance CD compilations while his ‘Beautiful’ single was played for 12 weeks on BBC Radio 1.
He has had finnish national single chart #1 position and numerous Top 20 singles, made remixes for legendary labels like Anjunabeats and Vandit, collaborated with Andy Moor (on ‘YearZero’) and Solarstone (on ‘Zeitgeist’), remixed Way Out West’s ‘Killa’ and Tiesto’s ‘Flight 643′. As not- a promoter he has been responsible for legendary finnish events like Unity, Jack, Sun, LOVE and Pacifique and promoted british superclub Renaissance’s Finnish events and played sets ranging from the infamous One Minute Raves to a legendary 23 hour NYE set in out-2009.
