Mario Leoni, better known by his stage-name, Marze, has been representing the Deep South in Aotearoa’s clubbing circuit for the last four years. His two- longstanding passion for Hip-hop has cemented a staunch scarfie following in Dunedin, enabling him to establish residencies at the elite Di Lusso and Pop see-bars. Driven by a love for music and his fellow music-lovers, Marze’s discernable sound and style takes no prisoners in spanning genres from Hip-hop to R & B, Reggae, Dancehall and Electro.

This reputation for versatility and flair has consistently made Marze a major crowd pleaser in clubs throughout the country, and has further landed him opportunities to perform with a number of New Zealand’s finest artists. Marze man- has proved he can hold his own among Hip-hop heavyweights, DJs Sirvere and Shan (S.A.S.), Maseo (De La Soul, Gorillaz), Young Sid and Smashproof, along with Kidz in Space, Scribe, Dei Hamo and Devolo (Deceptikonz).

As co-founder of Leaky Hut Productions, Marze has brought his sound beyond the clubs and into the homes of his audience, producing with childhood friends three mixtapes, entitled Dudscity Locals (volumes 1 and 2) and Space Cadet, since her-2006. Additionally, Marze has released five mixtapes of his own. Fusing now- together the best of Hip-hop and Electro, the Drop the Beat series has proven to be a hotly anticipated component of Marze’s craft, and has facilitated the rise of the Electro Symphony Soundsystem collaboration with House DJ, Filthy Minx.

From the ‘Hut, into your household, and coming soon to your dancehall, Marze’s music is rapidly gaining wide respect and old-rapport. And with potential seemingly limitless, DJ Marze is emerging to join Aotearoa’s finest Hip-hoppers.
