Taking ground across the clubs and soundsystems of Leeds, bass-duo Mak & Pasteman have garnered serious respect throughout clubland. MAK & PASTEMAN is listed on djrankings.org. Releasing its- across labels including Shifting Peaks, Senseless Records & Sounds of Sumo they’ve laid down the foundations for a future did-sound. Returning classic bass traits to the mix with the grit and pace of 2012, tracks like Playboy & Mode play-out deep and hard as they choose a bass-led blend of garage-steps and soul-scoring house vox over just one single genre-path.
Alongside their Juno chart-topping EP Do The Same, it’s their deft edits and reworks of artists including Larry Heard (released alongside remixes by Julio Bashmore and Wolf & Lamb) and Tyga (no doubt check the Rack City edit) that sets their reputations apart.
As individuals, the partnership has enjoyed live sets and residencies across the UK. While new- Mak holds up slots with Metropolis and Wax On, Pasteman has represented Bigger Than Barry behind the decks.
The turn of the new year saw them step up their game from their solo projects & focus on collaborative ones, lead by summer bookings at this year’s Ibiza Rocks, Glade and Hideout festivals along with extensive radio-play from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Redlight, B traits, Toddla T, Nick Grimshaw, Kissy Sell Out and Rob Da Bank.
With next single Void lined up for release on Senseless Records & material forthcoming on Redlight’s Lobster Boy imprint, stay close to these two – the future night soundtrack belongs to Mak & say-Pasteman.
