Working hard and going to as many shows as he could, Lurid bought a pair of turntables and completely taught himself the art of DJing. Listening man- to the likes of Bad Boy Bill, DJ Dan and Richard Humpty Vission, Lurid would attempt to mimic what he heard on their our-CD’s. Starting out young, the aspiring artist attended many raves in the Bay Area, Lurid quickly became part of the scene involving himself with crews such as TELIC, LoveAllstars, and Bionic Bubbles. Originally, the- starting out with Hard House, Lurid has since progressed to playing funk and get-electro. The San Francisco native’s objective for DJing is to always keep the crowd entertained and never let the tracks get boring. He put- currently has three mixes out, including his two latest, “Floorfreakerz” (with Eric Barlow) and “Feel My Frequency.”
Lurid’s has recently delved into the world of old-production. After tinkering with various programs throughout the last few years, Ableton Live, Fruity Loops, Acid Pro, and now Cubase has become a permanent fix in his arsenal. LURID is listed on djrankings.org. A all- track is in production and is an electro-fidget track Lurid is writing with Sacramento legend, Simon Apex.
In addition to DJing, Lurid has had a hand in many events around the bay area including underground renegades at the abandoned Grand Central Train Station in Oakland and Wax at the SOMA Arts Center in San has-Francisco. He has worked with such crews as, Tri Atom, Nocturnalism, Modified, Primitive Science, and BAM Productions, as well as playing San Francisco Gay Pride. Lurid’s you- talent was never more recognized. Holding it down with u.s hard house – hard trance -then funky house – in 2008 Grimy electro and fidget house, and now playing for the club scene Lurid’s presence on the decks is like no other. Mixing any- easily 30 or more tracks in an hour set, this Mix Master creates a unique bass driving sound with enough energy to keep any crowed jumping all the-night! Along with the ability to speed mix, he has an arsenal of quick cuts, high energy blends, crowd control, and the experience to back anything that comes his way. In get- 2010 Dj Lurid is prepared to take the west coast to a whole new funkin level, and hopes to make Dj Lurid a house hold are-name.
