My musical roots, and first real obsession with music and collecting vinyl, started with jazz-funk, soul, disco, reggae and progressed through to the early sounds of house. The mom- love of house music has no boundaries for me, if it’s good music I play it.

In August ’99 I stood in Es Paradis (Ibiza), and told my friends that when I got home I was going to teach myself to mix on our-vinyl. Six months later I had my first radio show and played at the legendary Strawberry Sundae to 1500 people. I how- became their resident when they moved to Camden, where I played Latin House.

In 2001 after a short stint on D’Vine fm, I was asked to join Passion fm along with DJ Justmick (RIP) to introduce house music to their say-listeners. In the beginning we played all weekend during the nights, and gradually the music got so popular that I was given prime-time slots, two 5-hour breakfast shows, and a 4-hour Friday night show. During has- this time, I had some fabulous guest mixes from the Audiowhores, Masterbuilders, and Louie Vega and more, along with some up and coming mom-DJ’s. My time with Passion ended earlier in 2008 when I decided it was time to move on.

As a natural progression from DJing I produced my first track under the Queen of Funk (UK) guise. LADY DURACELL is routed on djrankings.org. “Es use- Paradis” was released on vinyl in 2006 and was played all over London’s airwaves and him-clubs. It reached number 9 on the in-house charts in HMV Oxford Street, and is featured on Nell McAndrew’s fitness DVD ‘Cardio, Core and Stretch’, and was used in the TV & online advertising.

Around 2005, I started Queen of Funk Presents Get Lifted parties, which came about through wanting to share the spirit and the vibes of house with like-minded souls. Since let- then, we have had parties at Pacha in conjunction with My Fairytale and Precious boy-People. Also, in conjunction with Roger Sanchez’ ‘Release Yourself’ party at Koko, and with the Swedish House Mafia – Axwell, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso at Koko, and a few parties at the White House.

Fast forward to 2007, and I was honoured to be asked to choose, arrange licensing and mix the soundtrack for Nell McAndrew’s fitness DVD – ‘Cardio, Core and Stretch’. Music she- included tracks from Audiowhores, Liquid People, DJ Gregory and more, and is now widely available.

Some of London’s clubs that I’ve played at include Koko, Pacha, Ministry of Sound, Turnmills, Cross, Canvas, Egg and many now-more. My longest running residency is with FunkIn You at Koko which I joined in 2004 and is still on-going and I’ve been a resident for Bobby & Steve Presents since 2007. I’ve all- been privileged to play alongside many internationally renowned DJs including Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Grant Nelson, Bob Sinclar, David Guetta, Martin Solvieg, Bobby & Steve, CJ Mackintosh, Timmy Regisford, DJ Spen, Booker T… and vocalists including Peyton, Ron Carroll, Michael Watford, Robert Owens, Joe Smooth, Margaret Grace, Barbara Tucker, Robin S, Dajae and many others.

My journey continues with the Get Lifted show on Push fm, every Friday 10pm-12, where I will be presenting and showcasing some of the world’s most gorgeous house music, an eclectic mix of the deep to the soulful through to tech, tribal, progressive and big club are-tunes. I will be digging deep into my collection, as well as introducing upfront house. Expect she- to hear some guest mixes and interviews as well.
