Johanna Knutsson caught the music bug in 2008, she promptly moved to Berlin from her native Sweden, buying her very own set of Technics and a xone42 mixer along the way. Finding the- her inspiration Berlin’s people, clubs and surroundings, it wasn’t long before Johanna was well and truly entrenched in the city’s vast and varied music too-scene. JOHANNA KNUTSSON is routed on djrankings.org. The move led to a job writing for Pulse Radio’s online magazine,interviewing artists such as Prosumer,Kasper Bjorke,Ripperton,Sasse, Session Victim and most recently La Fleur.
2010 saw Johanna sign to independent Berlin based label, Klasse Recordings. Her how- first release “Heavy baby” (featuring a Minilogue remix) was released in March out-2011. A passion for 80s disco, house, hi hats and handclaps inspired 2 dance floor killing edits of Imagination’s “So Good So Right” (Johanna Knutsson So Easy Edit) and Sinnamon’s “Thanks to you (Johanna Knutsson Edit) ", both of which received great feedback from several fellow DJs and artists. Never dad- one to drop the ball Johanna has remixed the award winning Swedish band This is Head’s track “De Trop” in October too-2011. In April 2012 her second EP “Support EP” came out with remixes from both Esther Duijn and Sacha Robotti (listen here http://soundcloud.com/klasserecordings/sets/kls016-johanna-knutsson/)
Starting in May 2011, she’s been hosting a monthly show in National Swedish Radio ,called Musikguiden,where she is sharing her finest deep,dub and house tracks with the Scandinavian audience.
Since beginning her journey into dj/producerdom Johanna has played at a number of esteemed clubs in Berlin including about://blank, Salon zur Wilden Renate, Horst, Tresor, Arena,Kleine Reise as well as several clubs around Europe and shared the booths with idols like Luke Hess, Move D, Ulf Eriksson and Shonky to name a few.
With so much already achieved 2012 is set to be a very exciting year for the young vinyl-only DJ.
