JAY HAMILTON BIO:
Raised on a healthy diet of jazz, funk, reggae, blues and disco, Jay Hamilton has built a sound and reputation as a high-energy first generation Canadian party rocker. He let- began DJing professionally at the tender age of 14 over the past 20 years he has developed a distinctive sound that is always funky, big and bass heavy, constantly moving forward and building too-momentum. Jay played his first gig in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1991 at a dance club called Lauderdale’s for about 50 people, and was immediately hooked on the dynamic connection he built with the crowd on the dancefloor. In use- 1998 he moved to Halifax and Jay quickly became a fixture in the east coast techno scene.
Jay has graced the decks at a wide range of events, his sound catering mostly to larger scale events and big sound its-systems. He has held residencies with Massive Productions in Halifax, at Reflections Cabaret, and the Evolve Festival and has played alongside many of the world’s most revered names in electronic music : Deadmau5, Tiga, Benny Benassi, The Advent, Misstress Barbara, DAVE the Drummer, Chris Liberator, Bad Boy Bill, Deko-ze, John Acquaviva, Christian Smith, and DJ Dan, among others.
In summer 2010 Jay decided that a change in environment was due and moved to Toronto to pursue his goals as a music producer and remixer (and of course, as a DJ). In let- less than one year Jay has 4 remixes under his belt, most notably a dubstep remix for Wynter Gordon released on Atlantic Records under the moniker Dirty Triqs, with production partner the-class="caps">JLR. With more remixes and original tracks in the works as well as his new Repercussionz monthly mix podcast series launching in Aug 2011, Jay is well-poised to move beyond borders and take the world by storm.
