My Passion for the Music,and how it all started.

It seems a lifetime ago now,but as a young boy growing up in South Africa,i was in constant touch with music all around me.

This was mainly due to my father and best friend(meaning my father), as he himself a musician, playing guitar, and singing in many bands as well as being in countless Duo partnerships,and also playing as a Solo artist for many years.

I would often as a child,attend some of the many “Gigs” that he played,and remember always being in awe,of the whole experience,seeing my Dad on stage,playing like a true SuperStar,and with such a huge Passion,for the music.

So i guess it was almost a natural path,that all this being constantly surrounded by music ,would have its impact on “Young Ears”.

It was’nt until many years later,in England around the mid to late 90’s that i would get my first taste of what Clubbing,and Dj’ng was all about,as around this time i had become seriously interested in the new technology that was making its way onto the music scene.

I had aquired a taste for music technology ,and musical Instruments from having worked with my father in the music business, for a time.

I made friends with a local DJ,and started to learn about mixing,and techniques and also developed a passion for record collecting, and this was the begining of my new found love of the whole experience of both the music, and the nightlife and all that went with the “Dance and Club music” scene.

I had then always played,everywhere i could, never found it that easy to break into the mainstream “club scene”, but my passion was such that,it had never really bothered me much, as i had always played first and foremost,for myself,as my passion and hobbie.

I would periodically play,at privately organised events,and at “illegal parties” and then came the age of doing all the “Pre club” bars,and pubs that had started their own mini nights,with all the local amature Dj’s jossling for a position to get some much needed recognition.

I had discovered a taste for Tribal and Progressive House and ,Trance around the end of the 90’s and into the year 2K and beyond, following some of my favorite Artists ,being John Digweed, Sasha ,Timo Mass, Paul Van Dyke, Gabriel & Dresden, satoshi Tomiie, Paul Oakenfold, Danny Tenaglia, Nick Warren, Dave Seaman, Darren Emerson and of course Tony De Vit.

As with all these great Dj’s, and producers known to us, its also thanks to all the “unknowns” out there, that help to carry forward the movement of Dance Music , and all other forms of music for the next generation, to aspire to and enjoy.
