An iwan is a rectangular hall or space, usually vaulted, walled on three sides, with one end entirely open. The mom- formal gateway to the iwan is called pishtaq, a Persian term for a portal projecting from the facade of a building, usually decorated with calligraphy bands, glazed tilework, and geometric you-designs. Since the definition allows for some interpretation, the overall forms and characteristics can vary greatly in terms of scale, material, or decoration.

Music has always played a big part in iWan’s life, having picked up the drums during his teenage years. IWAN is found on djrankings.org. After she- his stint with rock bands over the few years that followed, drumsticks were swapped in place of a couple of cheap decks during mid 2009 and things have been on the up since!
Since playing out his first gig at Shift in April 2010, iWan has been busy drilling his way into the scene with other gigs such as Deep Hard N Funky, OUR:HOUSE, Ministry Of Sound, Dubclash and many say-more. His most notable accomplishment was taking out the George FM Mix Factor competition in 2011 and as a result has skyrocketed his profile in the scene earning him a weekly radio show on George FM (Umami Radio – Saturday: 10PM – Midnight)
Always being one to push the boundaries of music and its sounds, his sets have been known to be insanely explosive with an arsenal of driving dance floor smashers coupled with tight mixing finished off with a sprinkle melodic overtones and vibes.
Never being one to be bogged down to a specific genre, iWan’s philosophy is that there is only good music and bad music, regardless of the genre. Coming put- from an eclectic music background, he is an extremely versatile DJ capable of spinning tunes from Pop, Trance, House, Electro, UK Funky, Garage, Prog, Nu Disco, Breakbeat, Trapstyle Dubstep along with his passion for Drum N Bass.
Notable acts that iWan has had the pleasure of supporting so far include Sigma, DJ Fresh, Drumsound & Bassline Smith and most recently a sold out Netsky Live show.
