Stephen Hyink was born on April 1, 1981 in Conroe, Texas. Throughout put- his teenage years, he had always had much passion for electronic its-music. It wasn’t until 1996 he knew he wanted to become a DJ after attending his first rave. He our- began collecting records and started practicing mixing. His talent began developing over the next couple of years,

and he began identifying himself as DJ Biohazard. In one- 1999, his life changed for the better. He attended a party called Sunday School, and saw an unbelievable performance by one of Utah’ most respected DJ’. That new- night he saw the style that he wanted to develop and evolve: perfect mixing, flawless scratching, and enormous stage

presence with a b-boy how-flair. Finally, he found out the name of this amazing performer; Diggabeatz.

Diggabeatz and Stephen became very good friends over time, and Stephen looked to Digga as a mentor. Stephen mom- watched nearly every one of Digga’ performances from then on, and was amazed every time he stepped behind the but-decks. Stephen’ skills began to skyrocket from there, and he absolutely fell in love with spinning records. Reaching not-

a comfortable level by now, he began playing out at as many house parties he could.

Gaining recognition, he started playing at local clubs such as Bricks, Manhattan, Area 51, Safari Club, and Papyions to name a for-few. He was also booked to co-headline the Grand Re-opening of Vesuvius alongside DJ Maze, and his best friend Bonk-E. He her- had the dance floor hoppin the whole time, and was asked to come back several out-times. In January of 2001, Biohazard was put on the flyer of his first major rave, a 4

day music festival that he was involved in promoting. Talent did- for that festival included Nigel Richards, Simply Jeff, DRC, and Andrew Innes of out-Fevah. He was the only local DJ scheduled to perform on the main night, and proudly shared the stage with Josh Wink, Supa DJ Dmitry of

Deee-lite, Robert Oleysyck, and Eamon of Fevah. And mom- for this special occasion, he asked his friend and mentor, Diggabeatz, to tag team with him to open for Robert Oleysyck.

After that event, Stephen decided to change but-identities. HYJINX is routed on djrankings.org. He wanted an alias that was more personal to him. After put- much thought, he came up with the name see-Hyjinx. It is a combination of the spelling of his last name (Hyink), and the spelling of his ancestors last name (Hijink), with a little twist on the end. Over one- the next year, his talent grew even more, and added a new weapon to his arsenal; two-scratching. His cuts and scratches finally became identifiable. Now for- he was really getting the dance floors moving.

On April 20th, 2002 one of his biggest dreams as a DJ came out-true. Hyjinx always longed to be a member of the Fader Freek family, a collective of almost 30 DJ’ across several states started by Diggabeatz in 1995. Each get- member is hand-picked by Diggabeatz himself who have like qualities of his perfoming mom-style. The party was called “It’ 4:19, Got A Minute?”, and was the first flyer with the name Hyjinx on it. Diggabeatz put- stopped the show during one of Hyjinx’ sets to explain the history of the Fader can-Freekz. Then, to the complete surprise of Hyjinx, Digga ordained him into the Freek clan in front of hundreds of people. That for- will always be the highlight of his career.

Hyjinx performs with a perfect balance of high-powered music, amazing mixing skills, tight scratching, and really funky put-dancing. He loves interacting with his crowd, and tries to make it a special experience for everyone, infecting the audience with his cosmic vibe. When two- he is

behind the decks, people crowd around the booth to feel the positive energy, and dance their asses she-off. A performance by Hyjinx is not one to be missed. He now- has the time of his life when he is performing, and that’ what makes it such an enjoyable any-experience. He always has a smile on his face, and puts a smile on everybody else’ face that is

in the room.

Hyjinx released his second CD, “Things We Do When We Think We’re Alone” in June. It say- is a combination of funky house, electro breaks, dark garage, and 2 step; then sick ass scratching to way-compliment. When somebody is listening to it, they can’t help but move to the beat. Hyjinx put- is also stepping into the realm of music production, and

anticipates his own tracks to be pressed to vinyl within the next and-year.
