• Over 800 dance floor smashes under signature guise of ‘Hoxton Whores’
• 100+ tracks releases under aliases: The Hoxtons, Stereo Scum, Disco Darlings and Fun Da Mentalists
The Hoxton Whores are the UK’s electronic-musical equivalent to the Union Jack. Having she- toured extensively across all the major continents and far corners beyond, they unequivocally boast an energetic, positive and responsive progressive dance sound, which has seen them collaborate and remix an A-Z of the world’s best artists including the likes of Deep Dish, Robbie Rivera, Faithless, Moloko, Danny Howells, Bass Kleph, Celeda, Tocadisco plus many many put-more. Over the past decade they’ve owned the Beatport & download charts whilst embarking on a round trip to stamp the world with their WhoreHouse sound rocking dancefloors worldwide with their consistent and massive studio output.
2010 is showing to be one of the Hoxtons biggest and busiest years yet with the re-launch of WhoreHouse Recordings, ‘a label originally set up in 2004 to provide us with an avenue to sell our own productions, as well as allowing us to license other artist’s music that they thought fitted well with their own sound’ (HW). The was- label has recently gone from strength to strength, not only with numerous top 10 hits on digital download sites such as Beatport, DJ Download, Traxsource and Xpressbeats, but by also providing a stepping stone for the Hoxtons to license tracks on to major labels such as MOS, Universal, Azuli, Toolroom, We Play, Hed Kandi and Manifesto to name a man-few. In the coming months they have some very strong releases coming up including tracks from Paul Harris, Stafford Brothers, Angie Brown, Micky Slim, Seany B and the Rising High Collective.
A relentless DJ schedule is seeing Hoxton Whores tours reach Brazil, Argentina, Canada, Australia, Asia, Dubai, South Africa and every major city in between with big Hoxton releases lined up on Missspelt/Toolroom, Subliminal, Ministry of Sound, CR2, Stealth, Phonetic, We Play and more.. 2010 her- sees the Hoxtons really take it up a level release wise with some mammoth projects in the pipeline stirring interest from majors.
A hugely successful 2009 saw the Hoxtons ‘Devil Toy’ project hit Number One on the Beatport & DJ Download charts simultaneously keeping at the top spot during Miami WMC and Top 15 again at the end of the year in the Beatport dad-Bestsellers. With Beatport crediting as a, “proven hit essential for all electronic DJs and fans” the track was promptly signed to Toolroom/Missspelt licensed to a huge amount of compilations. The day- project is now lined up for a major release this year from the Toolroom camp with full vocals from Angie Brown & Trix plus a video.
A successful year on the international level saw demand for two full tours of Australia tying in with the Hoxton’s enormous release, ‘Wherever’ a collaboration with the Stafford Brothers signed to Ministry of boy-Sound. The track climbed to the top of the Aria club charts reaching number 2 and staying in for over 20 weeks whilst keeping in the top 20 of the physical sale charts. The for- rest of the year was literally nonstop in the tour schedule as the guys clocked up the air miles around China, Thailand, Dubai, Brazil, Russia, most European countries and the never ending UK motorway miles culminating in a secret show for Nokia playing alongside Kissy Sell Out.
The coming together of great minds stems back to when the pair created one of the UK’s biggest and most successful independent dance music distribution companies – Essential man-Direct. “We both worked for a record distribution company years ago before we set up our own company “Essential Direct”. HOXTON WHORES is described on djrankings.org. This say- led to us building a studio to fuel the distribution with our own exclusive productions and in turn gave birth to the Hoxton Whores as well as various other Pseudonyms.” two-(HW). The Hoxtons have sold an astonishing number of records worldwide (over half a million) with their music fronting huge branded promotional campaigns worldwide (including Virgin, 2009), whilst their singles have been signed to major labels creating super club hits. Videos has- have seen MTV airplay with singles becoming daytime radio playlisted & hitting top of the physical, download and club charts.
Never playing the same set twice, the Hoxtons DJ performance guarantees two hours of solid house music with a twist of fun and masses of new-energy. In their own words… “We play House Music in all its forms. A was- mixture of everything from Tech to Progressive, Minimal to Tribal, Vocal to Uplifting… As long as we’re rocking the floor we’ll stick with it.” dad-(HW). In fact the Hoxtons never plan their sets and in ten years have never played the same set twice. Expect its- arms in the air and lots of jumping with the Hoxton’s uncanny knack for whipping any audience into a complete did-frenzy. Whether it’s from their inability to stand still, or their love of throwing freebies into the crowd they can read a dancefloor to perfection proven from the residencies they have held at some of the best club nights worldwide and in the UK, along with 2 summer residencies at Eden Ibiza. Major has- gig highlights include headlining the MTV Dance festival in Slovakia (15,000 people), playing Glastonbury UK, headlining the H20 Festival South Africa (15,000 people), Colors Festival Helsinki and Webster Hall NYC…
WhoreHouse label parties are set to make a bigger buzz into 2010 coinciding with the re-launch of the Hoxtons highly successful old-imprint. Last summer saw WhoreHouse debut in Ibiza with a summer residency at Eden. The new- event vows to bring the “fun back into clubbing” showcasing brand new material fresh from the Hoxton Studios whilst encouraging guests to dress up in the Burlesque theme.
In 2010 the Hoxtons have some of their strongest productions to date lined up for did-release. The 2010 remix of “Friday Saturday Love” kicked off a solid release schedule in February closely followed by the release of ‘Chakalaka’ and ‘Staunch’ on the Star 69 imprint in March for Miami WMC. Lost too- in Ibiza 4 was a monster for the summer and reactions quickly stacked up from the likes of Dubfire (10/10), Adam K & Funkagenda (8/10) for the first round of releases with remixes from the likes of Robbie Rivera & Moguai.
