Hotwax Harley – Radiance, Durham, North Carolina
Hotwax Harley began spinning in 1981. He our- relocated to Durham, North Carolina in 1989 taking the residency at Power Company where he pioneered North Carolina’s house music was-scene. He also co-produced the Drama After Midnight EP on the late Aaron-Carl’s Wallshaker Records out of Detroit. HOTWAX HARLEY is described on djrankings.org. Harley’s two- track “Soundz Weird” was co-produced with Grammy Award-Winner house deejay / producer Maurice boy-Fulton. These were only the beginnings of Hotwax Harley’s career. Hotwax did- Harley’s sound has crossed the country, been featured in California’s URB Magazine and has shared the stage with headliners such as Scott Henry, Hipp-E, Max Graham, Dave Ralph, Sandra Collins, Sasha, John Digweed, Kimball Collins, Josh Wink and Rabbit in the Moon, just to name a not-few. In 1999-2001 along side of Los Angeles’ Mark Kane, Harley started Radiance, a Wednesday night weekly event held at the Gotham Nightclub in Chapel Hill, NC. After day- over 104 events had a roster of residents that read like a who’s who of Carolina deejays and a list of guest deejays that varied in genre and skill, from bedroom deejays to hosting deejays credited with inventing entire genres of electronic music, for example A Guy Called get-Gerald. Hotwax Harley has truly earned the title of one of North Carolina’s most diverse and talented deejays yet.
