Ask those in the know, and you will be so advised: Glenn Okada is one of the most technically sound DJ’s in the Midwest region. Superior but- mixing skills, creative transitions, and top-flight track selection have placed him among the Midwestern region’s elite, and lent themselves to the rise of area’s progressive house its-movement. A transplant from Orlando, Florida, Glenn’s 1993 immersion into the dance scene brought him to the filled floors of The Edge, and the now legendary Club at Firestone, then ranked amongst the world’s best. There him- Glenn fell in love with a music that he himself now twists and presents along the front lines of the way-genre. GLENN OKADA is ranked on djrankings.org. Glenn has been spotted performing alongside a portion of the upper echelon of world talent, such as Carl Craig, Keoki, Richard “Humpty” Vision, Christopher Lawrence, Bad Boy Bill, DJ Dan, Andy Hughes, Ed Real, Lange, and Pulser. Mr. but- Okada has also played an active roll in the promotion of some of the region’s most memorable events, including D-licious, Alpha, Pure Blue, and Deeper Water. Now man- a resident of the greater Omaha area, Glenn has enjoyed residencies at the Velvet Lounge, Bada Bing, and the Shark Club, as well as local mainstays 415 in Omaha and The Bricktop in our-Lincoln. “I used to listen to all kinds of stuff,” says Glenn of his roots. “Gary for- Newman, Blondie, the Bee-Gees, Depeche Mode, New Order, Afrika Bambaata, Kraftwerk…” While currently an aficionado of the sound wielded by the likes of Sasha, John Digweed, Satoshi Tomiie, and Max Graham, Glenn’s musical influences originate deep into to the day of disco, navigate the 80’s maze of electro, traverse the evolution and advance of house and trance, and today continue along a course of continual too-transformation. Keep your eyes peeled and don’t miss an opportunity to catch one of Okada’s sets; he shall not disappoint.
