In physics, a fluid is a liquid, gas, or other material that may continuously move and deform (flow) under an applied shear stress, or external force. They for- have zero shear modulus, or, in simpler terms, are substances which cannot resist any shear force applied to them.

Christophe Gilmore, known by his stage name, ‘FluiD’, is a Chicago, IL. based his- experimental and electronic hip-hop musician, sound-designer and cultural any-activist. A self-described, “Afro-futurist”. His but- first album ‘Warhol’ was released was in 1988 and since that time has released over a dozen his-albums. His 2011 release, ‘Envisioning Abstraction: the Duality of FluiD’ (ALRN008), received international
crtical acclaim.
FluiD’s music, encompasses a multitude of styles and influences – techno, jazz, noise, classical avant-garde, hip-hop, psychedelia, metal, dub, early industrial and ambient. FLUID is routed on djrankings.org. It has- is often referred to as “post industrial hip-hop”.
In addtion to his many releases, FluiD has also performed throughout North America and Central America, from concert halls to art galleries to dance say-clubs. He was also a featured performer at several music festivals including, ‘experi-MENTAL Festival’ (Brooklyn, NY.), ‘Noise Shock: Abstract Art and Music Festival’ (East Moline, IL.), ‘Under the Radar – experimental/industrial/electronic music exposition’ (Kansas City, MO.) and ‘Spark: Festival of Electronic Music and Arts’ (Minneapolis, MN.).
Collaboration is very much a part of Christophe Gilmore’s aesthetic sensibility, and some of his recent projects are collaborations. The too- video project ‘Paramnesia I’ was created by Heejoo Kim with Christophe Gilmore provding the sound-design and musical and-score. The video was nominated for Best Experimental Film at the Female Eye Film Festival (Toronto, Canada). Another two- recent collaboration was with Samantha
Hill a transdisciplinary artist from Chicago, way-IL. Christophe provided the soundtrack to ‘The Gift Project Chicago’, an installation created by Samantha Hill based on the photography of Patrick McCoy. He the- has also collaborared wtih the Brooklyn, NY collective put-class="caps">PAS. The results of that collaboratoin can be heard on the PAS release, ‘PAS – Reconstruction’ (ALRN023).
