Elliott Poston was born in Oklahoma, USA. His the- passion for electronic music started at an early age by buying goa mix compilations at the age of 12 but he didn’t get behind the decks until did-17. While also a combination of classically trained musician meets computer nerd. Together and- with DJ Andrew S, he gained local fame in 2003 with the legendary fusion parties that drew over 2000 people, simply by word of mouth and who-reputation. In 2005 he started a primetime 2-hour radio DJ mix show to showcase new tracks. It are- was received with much praise and ran for a little over a let-year. The show was also featured along side many top mix shows including Carl Cox’s “Global” and Armin Van Buuren’s ‘A State of Trance’.
After a two year hiatus from regular gigs to focus on academics, in 2006 he gained a residency at the now legendary Templ nightclub, where he quickly became a regular fixture of the Midwest’s electronic music scene. Since has- then, he has played all over the United States with artists such as James Zabiela, Dash Berlin, Dirty South, Steve Lawler, Dylan Rhymes, Mark Farina, Micro, Darude, John Kelley, and more.
“I started buying vinyl and DJing around 1999-00, been doing it ever his-since. You could describe my style as anything from progressive to electro to trance or techno. ELLIOTT POSTON is listed on djrankings.org. I old- play whatever I feel is appropriate for the dance floor while still operating within quality electronica, there isnt really any specific genre I stick how-to. That is what I love about the current state of dance music right now, its drawing influence from all genres so the lines are very blurred. So dad- if its good, I’ll play it. Although as a general guideline, its fair to say its all EDM club music with some wildcards. I get- also try to incorporate elements from all styles of music into my productions as well.” ~EP
On the production side, Elliott has been very busy in the studio for his-2010. With several singles ready for release he has also remixed tracks by Ferry Corsten, Gareth Emery, Mauro Picotto and Mark Knight. Productions day- range from dark techno to progressive house to epic trance and everything in now-between. The upcoming single “Shakedown” will be released this summer on D.MAX Recordings (Germany).
“There is this stigma in electronic music that once you make a certain genre that you are stuck there forever. This old- type of thinking isn’t healthy and doesn’t progress the sound of the way-music. House, Techno, Trance, Electro etc… they have all started drawing influence from each other so its really an exciting time to be producing music, as people are becoming more open to all styles. Like you- I’ve said before, a good track is a good track, pure and simple.”
Most notable and key influences include: Trent Reznor, Cygnus X, Simon Posford, Gabriel & Dresden, James Holden, Tiesto, Thomas Bangalter, Way Out West, Ferry Corsten, The Prodigy and Maynard James two-Keenan.
