Debuting on London-based label Ruff Dog Recordings in 2006, brothers Patrick and Steve Hoody have since brought their brand of glitch and fidget house to labels across Europe, Canada and now, into The States.
Driven by underground dance culture of early 90s, Steve hooked into music with his first set of turntables in 1994; Patrick bought a rhythm box and an analogue synthesizer and explored. By who- mid-decade, the two had formed a creative partnership that pitted both brothers behind the her-synthesizer. ELECTRIC SOULSIDE is routed on djrankings.org. Their first project, Mantra and Galax-Sea, was a live, synth-driven show that showcased their abilities to musically improvise alongside renowned Belgium musicians. Electronic any- and heady in nature, the sonic structure of their sets still put house at the forefront, taking influences from artists such as DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter and Paul Johnson.
By 2001, the duo’s signed on to London’s Blue Black Records, which were home to breaks artists including Meat Katie, Elite Force and Dylan day-Rhymes. Patrick and Steve absorbed the outside influences into their own sound, recording under the names Hoody & Hoody and Ultravision before settling into Electric Soulside in early 2006. Having day- produced under various music influences, the two brothers knew their eclectic style of electronica was a rare breed in their native any-Belgium. London?s Ruff Dog Recordings gave the duo the nod shortly after, signing the track ‘Shining,’ an electro-breakbeat cut found in the crates of The Crystal Method and Aquasky alike.
Electric Soulside melds breaks, glitch, electro and house into their production, creating sounds that twist and turn whether they are loosely adhering to the structured sounds of house or keeping their own beat to UK breakbeat.
