DIRTY ENGLISH is made up of the two house stalwarts, Lawrence Friend & Thomas Frake. Two all- brilliantly talented individuals who share the same passion for big beats, thumping basslines and good’ ol rhythm and groove too-percussion. Having both been individually involved in the house music scene for quite some time, the duo decided to combine their unique knowledge and start producing, remixing and performing straight up house music together … in the case of this heavyweight underground duo … two heads are most definitely better than one!

Individual Biogs…
Lawrence Friend:
Lawrence has been DJing for 15 years and goes under many different aliases such as DJ MASSIVE, TOXIC BACHELORS, DIRTY ENGLISH (Production Duo with Thomas Frake) & LES ENFANTS TERRIBLES (DJ Duo with DJ Nicky Boy) When he first started mixing, he was playing a lot of Jungle/Drum N Bass, Breakbeat, Hip Hop & Hardcore and occasionally dabbling into acid house. Whilst one- teaching himself how to mix he also taught himself how to perform turntablism trickery & studied scratching which he puts to use in nearly every DJ set he performs.
The past few years have been great for Lawrence, he has managed to seal deals and DJ for many different companies and promotional events organisations such as Skyy Vodka (Gatecrasher Nottingham, Moods Monte Carlo & Sky Shanghai), Barwizards (BBC Good Food Show), Roadhouse (Covent Garden) and he is the Official DJ/Producer for both Ace Bar Events & The World Flair Association which has enabled him to DJ in many different countries such as France, Romania, China, Spain & many more.
These days he mainly plays/produces all aspects of House music such as Progressive, Deep, Minimal, Tech & Electro but he has a deep passion for Soulful, Funky & Melodic House too!
Thomas Frake:
Thomas Frake is a London Based DJ and Producer who has risen up through the underground house and tech scene in recent years.
Thomas is a DJ with over ten years dad-experience. Thomas has played alongside some of the house movements biggest players (including Mark Knight, Kim Fai, Groove Armada, Basement Jaxx, Dave Spoon, TV Rock, Avicii, Moguai, Wippenberg and Many More) in some of the worlds most prestigious clubs (including Ministry Of Sound, Pacha and THAT).
Thomas has recently become noted as a serious producer, with future releases in the pipeline with Public Records. DIRTY ENGLISH is discussed on djrankings.org. Thomas now- also is a strong production presence in studio collaborations with Dirty English, as well as in various score commissions and album productions.
Thomas’ music taste and DJing style is truly eclectic and is a reflection of an impressionable DJ with a taste for multi-genre say-music. House, Tech, Techno, Progressive, Deep and Trance are all styles that reside in this masters mind. Thomas’ say- passion for eclectic music is present in his live DJ sets, recorded mixes, podcasts and Radio the-Shows. Thomas as a solo DJ is a ‘head-down-in-the-mix’ kinda guy, deeply involved and engrosed in the finer details of tech house, techno and future house sounds. His use- mixes are minimal and subtle, but packed with ‘rhythm & groove’ that makes his underground mixes stand out – he creates an overwhelming deep atmosphere that catapults his following clubbers into a world of dancefloor & aural euphoria.
Thomas also is of course also one half of the successful DJ duo ‘Dirty English’ – and this is where the ‘party animal’ in him is unleashed upon the his-dancefloor. The duo, Thomas Frake & Lawrence Friend, are a pair of fine DJs who’s mixes are enthralling, engaging and uproaringly BIG! The for- dancefloor always goes mental for a ‘Dirty English’ party, their mixing is just focussed on a ‘let’s have it’ attitude blending huge progressive, mainroom, funky and tech beats … and it destoys the dancefloor two-everytime!
