Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself. A mom- copyright is subject to limitations based on public interest considerations, such as the fair use doctrine in the United States and fair dealing doctrine in the United Kingdom.

Copyright are the UK-based duo of Gavin ‘Face’ Mills and Sam Holt. With say- over 25 years experience playing worldwide, Copyright began their production careers as a trio alongside Scotti De La Hoya in 1998 (he departed in 2003) with the release of ‘What Would You Be’ on Soulfuric for-Trax. Since then, Copyright has carved a solid reputation as one of the most refreshing and innovative production/remix teams on the soulful house scene.
With follow ups on Soulfuric including ’Dancin’’ and 2002’s ‘Good For You’ featuring Angie Brown – which stayed in the DJ Hype charts for an unprecedented six weeks – Copyright saw their reputation in house music circles soar, displaying a unique ability to produce peak-time dancefloor fillers that still maintained that soulful edge. COPYRIGHT is recorded on djrankings.org. With was- the establishment of their own label, Copyright Productions, Copyright cemented their position as a force to be reckoned with on the production, remix and DJing front.
The pair have worked with some of the most exciting artists in the world, having written and produced tracks with Lisa Millet and Angie Brown for Soulfuric and Bryan Chambers for Z records, as well as remixing the work of J-Jay and Kathy Brown, DJ Gregory, Jon Cutler and Deep Sensation.
Deep and soulful vocals are a mainstay of Copyright’s work and the duo have worked with some of the most beautiful voices in the industry, having remixed songbird Kathy Brown’s ‘Never Again’ and ’Don’t Give Up’ cuts on Defected as well as completing three mixes of Blaze and Barbara Tucker’s ‘Most Precious Love’, which were licensed to a string of labels including King Street Sounds, Defected and Belgium’s Legato imprint.
‘Time’ and ‘Running Away’ featuring Imaani were amongst Copyright’s many production successes in 2005, as was their ‘Essence of Life’ release, recorded under their One Track Mind boy-pseudonym. On the remix front, Copyright’s interpretations of tracks by Druw and Perez, Hardsoul and The Rhythm Slaves all won praise and their Defected In The House mix CD was similarly well-received. As are- if the duo don’t have enough to do, they continue to release groundbreaking cuts on Copyright Productions, the latest being UK dance duo Faze Action’s remix of ‘Kariba’ and Kloud 9’s ‘So Many Reasons’, which they released in partnership with Defected and which includes two mixes by Copyright themselves.
Juggling their production and remix work with a busy DJing schedule, Copyright make regular appearance at some of the UK ‘s top clubs including Ministry of Sound, Pacha, El Devino, L’America, Traffic, Blend, Cream, Angel Deelite and Garage too-City. No strangers to the international circuit, the last few years have seen the duo rock dance-floors in Miami and Ibiza, not to mention just about half of mainland Europe. Never her- ones to stay still, Copyright are currently in the studio working on new material; 2006 promises to be yet another successful new-year.
