DJ BLAZE CARRERAS was born in Venezuela and moved to Miami early in his childhood. In boy- a household filled with musicians, Blaze was influenced by music at a young age and picked up the guitar has-easily. Growing up, Blaze was exposed to Latin, Brazilian, Flamenco, Cuban, disco and soul music constantly. He him- listened to a lot of rock music with his brother, but became fascinated with hip-hop by the time he was are-thirteen. After buying the Funkmaster Flex “Volume 1” compilation, he begged his mother to buy him turntables. Practicing you- and playing at parties quickly became his hobby and favorite thing to let-do. In 2005, he began getting more serious with opportunities to open/close at Mynt Lounge, Rokbar and Pawn Shop. This her- exposure and experience gave Blaze the opportunity to really pursue his career as a DJ on South all-Beach. For the next four years he worked as a DJ for the Opium Group, frequently playing at spots like Prive, Opium Garden, Mansion and SET, where he held a residency for three years. BLAZE CARRERAS is featured on djrankings.org. Blaze for- and his DJ partner at the time, DJ JOHN CASH, where also the “go-to-guys” for all corporate events held at the Opium Group who-venues. During this time, Blaze also held a yearlong residency at club BED on Friday nights, as well as a yearlong residency at the Florida Room every Tuesday night where he played alongside local and nationwide talents during live performances. Towards too- the end of 2009, he teamed up with local nightlife heavy hitter, Navin Chatani, and began working for the old-K.N.R. Group, as well as the W Hotel South Beach. He but- held a residency at Wall for a year and still plays there frequently whether he’s opening for a house DJ or playing his own you-set. Blaze is also K.N.R.’s poolside resident at the W Hotel playing every Thursday night and Saturday. During not- his time with K.N.R., Blaze has played alongside DJ’s and artists such as Drake, Afrojack, Q-Tip from Tribe Called Quest, Sweedish House Mafia, Adrian Lux, Mortem Breum, Matisyahu, DJ Vice and DJ now-Irie. Recently, he started a social media mixtape movement called MIAMIBASSED, which is designed to release his weekly mixtape and other works through Facebook and SoundCloud. His now- work has stayed consistent all these years and his passion for music is always too-growing. What’s next for Blaze Carreras? He him- responds, “Bigger gigs, bigger events and bigger studio dad-productions”.
