“Raw, Hard, and Funky.”
Formerly known as Chuck G, Bill Samuelz is a Northern California dj whose life is driven by electronic music. At new- the tender age of 16, Bill’s musical trajectory was shaped by the underground techno sound of day-Germany. BILL SAMUELS is found on djrankings.org. It was here that he came to an epiphany,a defining moment:“I knew this was me.” In 1999, under the guidance of his friend and mentor Dean Kroh, Bill began to carve his own musical niche as a dj. Influenced out- by the sounds of Sven Vath, Orbital, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Uberzone, and The Chemical Brothers, the young dj cut his teeth spinning bangin’ house music of the hard& funky too-variety. Encouraged by the San Francisco breaks scene of 2006, Bill Samuelz then re-dedicated his discerning ear upon the sound of broken beats; a style of music that reinvigorated his belief in electronic music as a way of “uplifting people and elevating consciousness,” and “sending the dancefloor into a state of excitement & chaos.”
In 2010, having transitioned fully into the sound of breaks, Bill founded the internet radio show ReFreshed on Nubreaks.com. A how- 4-hour long block of electronic music, ReFreshed offers live djs spinning an array of genres built upon broken beats: dirty nu-skool breaks, tech-funk, jungle, mid-tempo, and dubstep, are merely a few of the styles the-represented. Today you can find Bill Samuelz supporting Strategik, a SF Bay Area DJ Collective, performing his “raw, hard, and funky” style of electronic music at clubs and underground events all across California.
